Beautiful location and scenic views. The doorknob on the bathroom downstairs kept falling off. The dishwasher needs a really good clean, we had to hand wash all of our dishes.

The house with the most beautiful view

The view from the kitchen is beautiful with the sun rising and the moon shining. We drove to Santa Fe Ski area and town every day and it was a Very enjoyable drive. We felt as if we were in a retreat and could still be out and about with minimal effort. Beautiful home and stay, thank you

Beautifully UNSAFE

The photos of the exterior were not accurate. There were weeds everywhere! Most of the exterior lights either didn't work or had burned out bulbs. Several of the screens had tears and as the home doesn't have air there is a need to be able to open the windows. If you do there are moths everywhere. Don't leave any snacks out unless you want to find them half eaten and mouse droppings on the counter. The stair treads are different heights and some are very steep! The entrance to both tub/showers are very steep and my wife suffered an injury exiting the tub as there are no grab bars or non slip mats. The house was very unnerving at night due to the strange sounds and lack of window covers. As the photos were nice and many of the reviews were positive we decided to give this home the benefit of the doubt. It's very disappointing that the issues that we had have been mentioned numerous times over the last few years and NEVER corrected. One last note. Despite the owners insistance that the internet works well it was rarely available and when it did work it would be a few minutes. There were very personal items left in several locations as well. This home could be spectacular but unfortunately was not.

Beautiful property that needs a lot of work

The surface areas were clean, but the property needed a serious deep clean. The kitchen cabinet doors were disgustingly dirty as well as vents throughout the house. The American Clay plaster on the walls is falling off everywhere, which is a shame as it's a beautiful finish. One of the bathtubs leaked onto the clay disintegrating it. Simple re-caulking would have saved this wall. It was almost impossible for 4 of us to try to conduct a business retreat as the internet is spotty. When mentioned to the owner, he was defensive "My internet is not spotty at all. We stream movies. Trade Stocks and more. My wife is a digital marketing strategist. It’s quite good usually for a mountain top". If you rely on being connected for work, this isn't the right spot for you. There are only 2 showers available on the upper level of the house. You have to climb over a very large tub to get to them. If you can't swing your leg at least 30 inches off the ground and climb in....this is definitely not the property for you. One of my guests was taking a shower and as she closed the door the shower door came off the hinges. She had to call for help as it was extremely heavy and she is a slight woman. The owner was to send someone to fix the door the following day......3 days later when we left he still had not arrived and we were all sharing one shower.

Beautiful piece of property which could be a great VRBO

Not for seniors or anyone with limited ability. Advertised as 4 bedrooms but only one is really set up as a real bedroom. Three have no dressers, no nightstands, etc. No full bathroom on the first floor and the 2 baths on the upper floor are very difficult to get in and out of. They are dangerous. Fire alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. on the weekend and we had to find the ladder to take down the alarms. The window shades are old, ripped, and many don’t work. Screens have holes in them. This is a beautiful property that could be a great VRBO. We paid over $300 a night and it was not worth it. The owners need to spend some money and fix it up. Wish I could give a better review but I’m already being too generous with the review.

Four great size bedrooms, large kitchen, back porch for reading, relaxing and star gazing nightly. Very windy, so dust from the outside was always being tracked inside the home. Even when it was very warm during the day, cooled off at night and with windows open. Some of the screens were ripped/gone, so not all windows could be open. Fans were in each room to help circulate the air at night. Needs more seating out back to enjoy the views and stars at night. The location is close enough to spend a day in Santa Fe, hiking trails close by, Madrid very close for food/shopping, and easy access to highways. People we encountered were very nice and welcoming. For what we needed, it worked.

The location is remote but amazing! We hat is what we were looking for. The kitchen had everything that we needed and the views were amazing with sunrise and mountains. The house had great character and was really welcoming!

Our family vacation was a big hit! We all had an excellent time visiting the Santa Fe area - the views from this property and solitude were wonderful with a highlight being our hike at nearby Cerrillos Hills State Park, as well as, having dinner in Madrid.

The listing was not accurate. There is no cooling system in the house, and that was not listed. The house was not cleaned to the standards in comparison to the cleaning fee in which they charge their guests. There are personal items everywhere in the home. The water had terrible sulfur odor. The property management contact was not able to help, and the owner was not capable of having a professional conversation as he interrupted and cut me each time I told him that we would not be able to sleep in a house where 3 out of the 4 bedrooms were at 90 degrees, etc. We know New Mexico's climate, we are educated on clay/adobe buildings and how long radiant heat takes to cool, how to cool it etc., and were spoken to like we were uneducated. Worst vacation rental (non rental - we went back home) I have ever had with any company.

Beautiful property

This home was gorgeous. Had everything we needed for our stay and more. The home had beautiful decor and artistic creepy vibe. The views are beyond breathtaking. Communication with the property management was excellent. We added one person that day we were to arrive and their response was immediate. There seems to be someone living above garage but we never heard or saw them. We have stayed in numerous VRBO’s and this was in the top 3. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing getaway.

Perfect for a relaxing time with family away from the city!

This was our spring break 2021 vacay away from Houston and all the traffic. The house was very unique in decor and enjoyed the rustic and native vibe. We arrived after dark and the entrance was a bit scary just because it was very isolated but as soon as we arrived to the home it was breathtaking. Our kids truly enjoyed the home and my 4 year old son wanted to take the piano back home. I will recommend this house for a away from the city trip and scenery it perfect. We also enjoyed having snow one afternoon while we were there and it was just a magical feeling to be at the mountain top and watch all the snow. Thank you.

Not great for long term stay

The property does not have cell coverage for AT&T which is a top cell provider in the US. In addition, the wi-fi available at the property is spotty and unreliable. Smoke detectors were removed from the rooms. The house is dark due to many light bulbs being burnt out and not enough lighting in general in the kitchen when the sun is down. The stairs are uneven and one person in our party actually fell on them. The showers need a step to enter/exit due to the extreme height of the bathtub. Breathtaking views, spacious, fire pit was excellent in the evenings for toasting marshmallows. Great location to disconnect and relax with friends and family.

Great house, great view!

The photos don’t quite do the house justice! It’s beautiful and very roomy. We arrived right around dusk and were treated to an incredible sunset. We also saw the fullmoon rise the next evening. The beds were comfy and the kitchen is huge. It was a great getaway from the city. I highly recommend staying here!

Wonderful Escape

My family and I had a wonderful time at this property. The area and home are beautiful. There are a few things not mentioned in the listing that people may find useful when deciding to book this property. First, this home appears to be owner occupied for a good deal of the time. Because of this the home has a more intimate feel with personal items and also a few areas that are inaccessible. The home also lacks the common "house binder" found in many rental homes that answers basic questions about the functionality and rules. Generally this would answer questions that aren't urgent or significant enough to make a call to a property manager. You're "check in" instructions are the only information you will receive to navigate your stay. Lastly, it bears mentioning that this home may not be suitable for the elderly or those with orthopedic issues. The staircase, although beautiful, is at a very steep pitch compared to other stairs and the step heights vary. This could be a very difficult climb for some. Also, both showers require you to clear a 2.5 ft (?) wall to climb in. This is not all that easy and is certainly would be more difficult for those with less mobility. It also means lifting children into the tub. None of the above is a dealbreaker for the location and price you can't beat this property. Undoubtedly, anyone staying here will have an excellent time and a soothed soul.
