We stayed at the property for 3 weeks and probably could have stayed 3 months if real life didnât get in the way. The property is well equipped with a lovely kitchen, living room, and bathroom downstairs. We cooked in some evening and never had a problem. The upstairs has 3 bright bedrooms and 2 full baths. Everything was clean and functional. The real payout is the view from the back porch. I would still be sitting there if I could!! This property is away from the touristy spots which was ideal for us. We hiked over 170 miles in our time there and every hike was at most an hour away. Perfect getaway!!
We had a great time in this lovely house. Especially the view along the vine yards was great and peaceful. We enjoyed our time in Isabell's house very much. The pictures do not show how nice it is.
The house sits on the hills, with a very nice view, especially in the mornings. A couple of cats usually come to greet you and it helps to give them some food! Theyâre very friendly. I stayed for a month and had pretty much everything I needed. The shop is a 15 minute walk away, pretty small and slightly expensive so if possible drive to a bigger one! The host was very friendly and even picked me up at the airport as I donât drive. Thereâs a path next to the garden which is rarely used but still means you wonât get total privacy, the balcony is better suited for it. Dogs nearby arenât the friendliest but theyâre tiny so still cute. Overall good experience and will most likely visit again.
The house has been recently refurbished, and is very well done - the decor is well thought out, the showers are powerful, the kitchen is very well equipped - we really enjoyed the stay. Coming back to the peace of the hillside above Sao Vicente each day was lovely - we're glad we chose to stay in the northern area of the island rather than the bustling, crowded south. Eagles swooped along the valley that the house overlooks, and the wall lizards were chased by the kittens from the house below - other than that, all was quiet except for the bread van honking its horn to call out buyers as it wound round the hillside. There's a small supermarket in Sao Vincente 10 minutes away which sells everything you'll need. Highly recommended as a wonderful base for exploring Madeira and Isabel was a great host.
I spent nearly a month living here July/August and working remotely. I absolutely loved the secluded location in the hills surrounded by vineyards, gorgeous views that the photos don't do justice, steady sound of flowing water from the levada spur beside the house. The photos also don't capture the expansiveness of the place. Very modern renovation and appliances. I cooked nearly every night and the kitchen has everything you'll need. In a cloudier valley of the island, which I appreciated in August, you're always just a fifteen minute drive to sunshine, whether up above the clouds, or to the south side of the island via the highway right at the bottom of the road. Its location is also ideal to explore the totality of the island, equi-distance between the north and southern edges of the island, and along the main highway artery connecting the north and south. As a trail runner, I loved being just a short 10 minute drive from the levadas of Sao Vicente, 15 minutes from the Encumeda, 25 minutes from the levadas and peaks of Boaventura. The most scenic swimming spot just 15 minutes in the Seixal Beach and swimming pools. Isabela was a great host. Meeting me upon arrival and quick to reply to texts whenever I had questions. Staying alone this trip, the space is great for entertaining and families, and hope to come back with family on the next venture. Don't hesitate to book.
