This was our 3rd and final destination for our 8 day trip to Costa Rica! We stayed 3 nights in this cool homey 2 storey. The yard was incredible, we seen monkeys and a sloth right in the yard! Ron was the perfect mix of socable and giving us space. The gazebo was wonderful with lighting, a ceiling fan and great hamocks! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen provided us with almost everything we needed! The beach was right across the street and had beautiful sunsets, very few people, and amazing crashing waves!

Tropical Paradise Home by the Beach!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Slice of Paradise! Comfortable, very clean and safe. Ron and Giselle have created a lovely spot a one minute walk from the beach in Matapalo. They were very kind and were there if we needed anything but also gave us our space and privacy. Our bed was extremely comfortable and there was ample room for a big family in the Bungalow as well as a separate apartment for even more accommodation. Having lived in the area for over 25 years, Ron is a wealth of local knowledge and information. The beach out front is a true tropical paradise with very few people. Beautiful sunsets every evening were only matched by the wild life that came by daily, including monkeys and macaws. Looking forward to staying here again! Thanks Ron and Giselle!

Perfect Relaxing Getaway in Costa Rica!

My husband and I stayed at Slice of Paradise for five nights and loved every minute. The bungalow is located behind the hosts’ home and is completely separate and private. On the first floor there’s a full kitchen with everything you need (including a drip coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender, and air fryer), a living room with a couch, a chair, and a daybed; a half bath; and a large closet with beach chairs and boogie boards. Upstairs is a full bath with a huge shower, a very large bedroom with two king beds, and a balcony that looks toward the mountains. Steps from the front door is a gazebo with comfortable chairs and hammocks and a powerful ceiling fan. The neighborhood monkeys and dogs come to visit frequently. The beach is a three-minute walk from the front door if you walk slowly. At its very most crowded there might be a dozen people there, but we often had it all to ourselves. The water was very warm. The neighborhood is very quiet. If you’re looking for activity, Dominical is a ten-minute drive away. Lots of tours and adventures are available within a short drive. In sum, this is a fantastic property for a relaxing vacation. Ron and Giselle are great hosts—-always available for questions but providing plenty of privacy.

Excellent Jungle and beach home

My family of 5 had a fantastic stay. We used both bungalows, although the bigger bungalow (that I am reviewing here) was plenty big enough for the 5 of us. Air conditioning was excellent in the bedroom upstairs and the living and kitchen area downstairs, which mattered to me! Staying in this home really felt like staying in the jungle, with plenty of wildlife from the lizards that join you, to the monekeys that came by and even ate from my family’s hands! Ron and his wife Giselle were very kind and considerate hosts, and live next door on the same plot so they are always on hand. Ron was able to recommend a fantastic wildlife tour where we saw monkeys, crocodiles, even an ocelot! And recommended many other activities. He is well connected in the area. We loved that the location felt ‘local’, and the restaurants were excellent around nearby, and the beach was only 50 yards away, and very very quiet. Great stay - thanks!

Loved it!

This was a great pick for us. Accessibility to the beach was easy. The beach was huge, and the water is the warmest i have ever encountered. Ron was a very helpful resource. Beach chairs and boogie boards small cooler all helped to make our vacation fabulous. Got some great pics of the sloth on the property. Great location for venturing to nearby destinations, like fishing or national parks.

Peaceful Beach Location

We really enjoyed our stay at Ron’s. The beach is just across the road, and the backyard is jungle. The gazebo and hammocks were great for unwinding after a day in the sun and sand. It was great to have 2 bathrooms, and the kitchen was well stocked. Ron was super friendly, welcoming, helpful and trustworthy. He booked our Mangrove tour and told us about a few nearby tourist and “locals” waterfalls, and he made sure we were introduced to the neighbourhood sloths. He had enough boogie boards for family of 5 and was willingly to share all his knowledge of the area with us. He’s been doing this for a long time and it shows! We would definitely stay at Ron’s again.

Best VRBO Experience Ever!

Ron & Giselle are the most incredible hosts! Their property is more than promised, clean, beautiful & a very short walk to an uncrowded (we had it all to ourself several days) beach. They even provided chairs & beach towels, a cooler, portable grill for our outings. We saw a black hawk, sloth, monkeys, parrots, and an iguana within hours of our arrival. The outdoor shower, gazebo with fan & lights, and hammocks are so relaxing. I have to add that our hosts were the most welcoming & communicative that I have experienced in years of using VRBO. Thank you for an incredible visit! It was more than we hoped for!

Amazing stay in Matapalo at Slice of Paradise

Thank you Ron and Giselle for being such wonderful hosts. I now consider you a new friend:) Your 2 story home was more than we expected with every kitchen necessity provided including an oven which is quite rare to find. Macaws greeted us upon our arrival, the resident sloth with baby stopped by, monkeys greeted us daily as well as the macaws. I was surprised with so much daily wildlife. The deck off the back was fabulous to watch the wildlife and the jungle views. The location really can’t be beat having the nearly deserted beach mere steps away, the paved road into the quiet town and only 20 minutes to Quepos for all of your shopping needs. Ron’s place truly is a Slice Of Paradise. If you are looking to be in a nice clean quiet location yet close to the action if you choose, this place is it! I will for sure be back!!
