Nice place!

If you want quiet place to stay then this is for you. Nice people! A lot of lakes around the area and different kinds of fish.

Very rustic

Very rustic, but that’s the charm of the Bear Cottage. The view was beautiful. The manager (Bob), was awesome. Very helpful, and accessible 24/7.

Great vacation

We were very comfortable in this cozy cabin. Had fun fishing and biking. We took advantage of the row boat provided. Only drawback, for us, was that the shore was weedier than we would have liked
 so we did not swim.

Needs work

Love being on Star Lake but the Bear Cottage needs work. The screen porch is great but the door does not close so it is defeating the purpose. Rooms are dark and crowded. Why are there serving pieces for 36 people when there is hardly room for 3? Was hoping it would be better this time but it was not. Kind of a bummer.

Take it All In

This property strikes a charming balance between quaintness and modern amenities, making it perfect for today's needs. It offers a delightful retreat back to nature, where you can feel the soft ground beneath your feet and relax by the shore with your toes in the water, or snuggle next to a cozy fire outside. Ideal for a getaway, you can spend your time catching small bluegill off the dock or take your boat out to explore the many other fishing opportunities around the lake. I absolutely love this place and will definitely continue to stay here.

Nice time

We had a great time. A few errors in the posting and no hot tub. The shower is quite a tight squeeze. The beds were good and the location is amazing. Kitchen is small if you like to cook hard to find spots to prep. Overall we would absolutely go back. Communication with host was good and easy

Bear Cottage

It rained almost nonstop during our 7 days. So we were stuck inside a lot, the cabin is “nice” but it would have been better with Wi-Fi. Property manager was great. The location feels like you are staying in someone’s yard. We wanted to bring our little dog with us, so our choices were limited, we don’t usually vacation during peak season either but it seemed pricey.

Bear Cottage

We really enjoyed our time at Bear Cottage. Only a few feet to waters edge allowed us it see ducks a beaver, 2 bald eagles a heron and other birds! A short ride brought us deer, porcupines, a partridge, and gorgeous trees. The night sky was so clear we could see the Milky Way. We’ll be back!!

Family vacation

We thought it was a little pricey. Pretty small cabin. Dresser drawers were hard to open and close. Pier should extend out farther as boat bottomed out as very shallow. Host was great!

Beautiful Star Lake!

Had a wonderful late summer stay at Bear Cottage on the shore of Star Lake. A lovely visit with loon, beaver, muskrat, and eagle sightings. Can't wait to be back soon!

Nice get away

Property was clean and any problem we had we could text Rob and it was taken care of. Slightly crowded in the cabin, maybe less furniture and more table/counter space would be nice. Loved the screen porch.

Bear Cottage

Third year staying at Bear Cottafe did not disappoint. Great family destination for quality positive time together. Close to trails, horse back riding ect
. The lake is beautiful as is the Northwoods. Animal sittings are amazing! Lake is quiet and the cabin is beautiful! Rob and his wife are amazing to deal with if there are any issues! We are sad to leave every year!

Wonderful time on Star Lake shore

Our family had a wonderful week on the shores of Star Lake in Bear Cottage. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. A campfire by the water under a full moon can't be beat! A great retreat and setting to spend a week in the northwoods. Our dog had a great time and we loved that it was pup friendly! We will be back next year.

Historical and Rustic

This is a wonderful small cabin. If you enjoy the historical value of the property, don’t pass this up. Wonderful sandy area steps away from the door to enjoy the clear water of Star Lake. This cabin is perfect for getting the rest you need or a break from the sun.

Wonderful Up North Experience

My husband, myself, and our 2 boys had a wonderful time in this cabin. We reserved it last minute, and the whole process was great. We enjoyed staying on Star Lake, sitting by the fire, and spending some quality time away. Will be back!

charming lakeside retreat!

The historic cabin was cozy, charming, clean and comfortable, nicely decorated too. Loved the really great mattress as many places skimp there - and we so enjoyed seeing those lake views as soon as we awoke. Updated just enough for modern living but not overdone with a nod to history. Peaceful corner on the bay with own dock and we rented pontoon boat from property manager so we could cruise pristine and large Star Lake. It has very few homes on it, so a great quiet nature escape of a lake with good fishing too. Our dogs loved staying here too, especially sitting with us on the screened porch looking out on lake.Great escape for my husband and me in the Northwoods. Rob was great to work with, too! There are nice neighbors next door on one side beyond a fence and no one on the other side as creek and woods there. We shall be back!

More than what we thought we were getting into

Usually when you book a place online you figure that the place isn’t going to meet your expectations. Until you get to this place. It’s exactly as displayed and the feeling is even better when you finally choose it. It has a fantastic cozy feeling where everything inside feels like it could be your own cabin. The view you get of the lake is perfect. In the morning when the mist is covering the lake it lets off this amazing orange glow across the entire lake. My wife and I want to come back to this place and we already have family memories that want to book this place for their next vacation.

Nice place but small

Beautiful view of the water. Nice screened in porch. Private, quiet and relaxing. Building was quite small but ok. Smaller than the impression from the pictures. More rustic than we had thought. A bit on the pricey side for what you get. No wifi and just antenna television. The antenna was so poor that the reception was weak making the television unwatchable. Not a big deal since we were not going to the Northwoods to watch television. On balance I would grade it a B minus.

Nice spot for a couple

Love the area. The cabin is a bit small, but has everything necessary for a couple to enjoy a week in the Northwoods. Rob checked in on us and made sure everything was good. Had an enjoyable week.
