This house was perfect for our family! Kid and dog friendly, excellent hot tub, walking distance to the beach, and lovely upstairs sitting room with ocean views. Not the most shiny, remodeled home, but a comfortable and easy going stay. We will definitely come back!
The hot tub was hot but the jets did not work. I called to see if they could be fixed and was sent to a phone serve in the Philippines. Not a great way have a relaxing time off.No resolution
Pros: comfy bed, hot tub water hot, location, BBQCons: ants on the couch, in the bedroom and of course the kitchen, hard to open doors (stuck needed to use shoulder), hot tub jets donât work, tea kettle had broken off pieces in the bottom, cobwebs, linens pulled down from closet to use were dirty, outside lighting insufficient for finding entry, entire residence smelled of fireplace, some safety issues-screw sticking out of wall in bathroom and poor lighting at entrance. Maybe if the cost were less, I would overlook these things but for the amount paid, I am surprised this home is not better cared for.
The house was tired and needed a lot of care. With it raining there was a lake of water we had to go through and the garage was flooded. The lighting at night is not good so you need a flashlight. The beds were comfortable and clean, but one bedroom door was swollen so it wouldnât shut. Location was great and the dogs were comfortable.
This is a comfortable house and is fairly priced. We stayed with our two dogs and appreciated the enclose yard. The inside is clean with very comfortable seating. The outside could use a little attention. There were no cushions for any of the chairs or chaise lounge and cobwebs everywhere. The location is close to Highway 1 so during the day the car noise was very noticeable. On the plus side the house is close to trails to the beach and bluff.
Location is beautiful and easy drive or walk to beach access. Suggestions for owner/property management or for potential renters: This home is not the best for those with mobility limitations as the kitchen/living space is upstairs and the stairs are slippery wood and the hand rail is low. The bedrooms & bathroom is downstairs so up & down is a necessity. Area rugs could use non slip pads or adhesive underneath as they would slip when walking (again a hardship if mobility limitations exist). The bath/shower combo is difficult to enter & exit as it was slippery and no grab bars. Bedroom with king bed lacks ventilation as window does not open and there are no screens on sliders. Only other complaint would be that the jets in hot tub are almost non existent so if a hot tub is a top search featureâŠ.this hot tub is more like an outdoor bath, albeit lovely as it sits under a flowering tree that was filled with hummingbirds. Loved the bar apparatus that made it very easy to remove & place the hot tub cover (great invention!)
The house was well stocked with dishes, glassware, kitchen appliances & utensils, extra blankets, towels, etc. Not zhushy per se but comfortable. Happy to see that new outdoor furniture was being replaced as we were leaving, as they had definitely ran out their life span.
If you like the 70s then this may be the place. I do, so I enjoyed it. Some of the things are a little rundown but if the price is right then I recommend. Great view of the ocean. Hot tub situated under the trees. Kitchen a bit lacking in supplies but sufficient. Bedrooms nice, comfortable. There was no firewood supplied so pick some up on the way or in Gualala at the market.
Watch out for ticks in the yard, they are abundant.
Lovely great room views and comfy beds. The jets on the hot tub are low-pressure (see other reviews) but the tub was hot. My only real concern was a rental in Sonoma had only 3 wine gkasses.this is wine country. Whats up with that?
Nice location with views of the ocean in the distance. My only reservations were (l) the jets in the spa were really weak, (2) the shower head in the only shower was really short, and (3) I wish the online listing had mentioned that you need to bring your own coffee. But the cottage had a nice, rustic feel and made for a nice weekend visit overall.
This property was good enough for a short family getaway. The main living space is nice and open and the beds are super comfy. Otherwise the place is in need of some major updates. The bathroom was pretty terrible - worse than what youâd get at a motel. The shower head in particular was really low - tough to use if your >5â8â. The kitchen was passable, but could also use an update. It did the trick for a few days though. The outdoor deck space was really nice, but the jets on the hot tub didnât really work. The location was great though! Easy acess to town and walking distance to the beach. If youâre looking for a no-frills stay at Sea Ranch this place is good enough.
We had a nice cozy time at this home with our two Goldenâs! Very walkable for nice coastal walks in the mornings and evenings. We forgot to pick up rental packet in gualala and had to go back, but overall it was cozy, we had nice dinners in by the fire, fun having a hot tub, and great views to cozy up and relax.
We had a relaxing 4-day weekend during a major rainstorm and enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. Enjoyed the view upstairs and the bedrooms downstairs. Comfortable beds and bedding. Only one bathroom in the house. Walkable to a lovely beach.
positives: -enclosed, private back yard with clean, nice hot tub
-pet friendly (though gap under fence meant my dog could easily escape)
-cozy fireplace
-open kitchen/living room w/ comfortable dining table
negatives:- no kindling, had to buy our own fire starter and the bellows didn't work (we eventually found the firewood in the garage)
-one roll of toilet paper was provided for a 4-night stay with two people, and when we called to report it, they told us to go buy our own
-kitchen supplies were worn (tongs had rust, pans had burnt bits,)
-needed a stronger sponge and a dish drainer
-keypads were hard to find and no directions were provided about where to look (had to walk through backyard to get to door of the house)
-the lights in the living room and kitchen were extremely low. the last day they mysteriously brightened up to a usable level- fuse problem maybe??
