The property wasnât clean properly. It was roaches in the house, spiders spiderwebs not cleaned on the outside of the house and the bathrooms wasnât thoroughly clean from what I got from this day. I donât think I will be Renting with you guys again because the house was not clean properly and then the roaches took over. I wasnât bringing home. Nothing I didnât come with.
My family was in town for my sister's funeral in nearby Yanceyville, NC. This was the best place beautiful, cozy and roomy. Waking up to the view of the lake was spectacular. I and my family member would glady book again.
The Lake House was a great place for my family to reconnect from our busy and hectic schedule. The house is spacious with a nice view of the lake. We enjoyed the covered pier for fishing and hanging out. Plus, a spacious covered deck for gathering. The kitchen worked well for meal preparation with plenty of open space upstairs and downstairs for socializing.
We were in town for the race and this property was really close and yet still on the lake with nobody bothering us. It's a beautiful house on a relaxing lake.
We had a fantastic weekend at Hyco Haven! House had everything we needed and the rooms were all very well-appointed. Only minor thing was that there were lots of bugs and cobwebs down on the dock/boathouse that we cleared off. We loved using the paddleboards and kayaks and rented a boat one day too. The property management was very communicative throughout the entire process. Would recommend this house to anyone!
We have a mixed reaction about our stay at the Semora, NC VRBO, âHYCO HAVENâ on the Lake. We came in the fall to take in the cool, crisp outdoor weather and relax on a lakeside with peace and tranquility.
On the positive side: the facility was well appointed and equipped. The kitchen had pots, pans, dishes, and glassware we needed. The bathrooms had sufficient supplies and towels. The bedrooms had comfortable and cozy bedding. The living room area was spacious and furnished nicely. The recreation space with the pool table was one of the highlights.
The fire pit was a highlight; a wonderful place to spend time with an ample supply of firewood.
Kayaks and paddle boards; although cool weather, these help to get us out on to the water.
The dock was also a great place to relax and read in the comfortable recliners.
On the not so positive side: We first had to chip away a considerable amount of ice from the back wall of the freezer. Apparently ice collection bin was not correctly positioned; water flowed onto the back wall and froze. Eventually we had sufficient ice.
Judi pulled back the curtains and shears. The rod holding shears fell on her head. We had to check each rod and tighten the screws tight keep the rods from coming apart. Also, the front storm door would not close shut and would blow open with a gust of wind.
The dust accumulation under the master bed was heavy. In the Jacuzzi tub and we found a long black hair. No one in our party has black hair. Also, the glass on all eight of the sliding doors units need to be thoroughly cleaned.
Not a window nor a sliding door had a screen. We were compelled, due to the bugs, to keep everything shut and miss out on natureâs fall evening delights.
Also annoying was the sounds of wildlife creatures in the attic directly above the master bedroom. At certain times of the night, they were very active.
When making arrangement at the outset, it was not clear that the busy highway 57 was across the water only about 500 yards away. We did not appreciate the constant noise from the traffic.
We felt that the pricing led us to believe this was a top-quality facility. Although the house was recently renovated, the material and furnishing used were not the high-end we expected.
Overall, we made the best of the time spent at this VRBO. However, we will seek another VRBO for any future stay at Lake Hyco. We hope you understand.
First, let me say that the inside of the house is beautiful and the location on the lake is great! Very easy to access by land and water!
Lights, Kitchen drawers, kitchen cabinets, and WiFi are all labeled with instructions which was helpful. The house Is beautifully decorated and furnished!
The amount of money we paid to stay here I was a little disappointed in a few/list of things that are easily fixable and could be better maintained:
The yard was a complete mess there were brush piles all over, trash in the yard (I assume from previous guests), the decks were dirty, outside chairs were dirty - they had to be washed before we could sit in them, the refrigerator on the dock had to be completely cleaned it was so dirty on the inside - we couldnât even use it at first until we throughly cleaned it ourselves. The counter space on the dock was the same the counter was just dirty - that had to be cleaned.
Once we got situated and wanted
To grill out steaks , we found 2 completely empty propane tanks under the grill , (which is fine) had a note been left that the propane tank needed to be replaced. We had to leave and go get propane. Once we got back to the house after leaving again to get propane it was dark outside and the outside lights on that side of the house where the grill is , are all burnt out. We had to use flashlights to grill our food.
I think this property is a great set up for rental property but I think the maintenance needs to be more closely monitored for the price people are paying to stay here it should be better maintained and well manicured outside and inside .
After a year+ of quarantine, we were finally able to gather some friends and family for a fun weekend on Hyco Lake and this house was the perfect venue for our gathering. The house was very comfortable and in great condition while providing plenty of amenities from the pool table to kayaks and paddle boards for lake activities. Had a great time and Jeremy was a great host.
