The hotel room was average, which is why we rated this a 3/5. What we liked...We came on a hot summer weekend and appreciate how well the AC cooled the room. The bed was very comfortable. The mini refrigerator was spacious, for a hotel fridge, and worked well. The hot water lasted a long time in the bathroom. What we didn't like... the room was not updated, the towels were old, ratty, and thin; the fan in the bathroom didn't vent very well, and the hotel hallways had a constant odor. Ultimately, we didn't feel the value was there for the cost and probably would choose a different hotel next time.

Staff was friendly and polite. No elevator but staff carried our bags up and back down for us. We are 73 years old and there was no elevator. Rooms were fine. Glad they served breakfast!

A friendly little gem

I had minimal expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The ocean star lobby initially was not impressive, but it’s clear efforts have been made to update the rooms. They are not perfect, but the room we were in was extremely clean and well laid out with updates. The man at the front desk was extremely pleasant and friendly. The continental breakfast was well above the average. It is in a good location for local shopping and dining. When I was planning the trip relatively last minute, I had only booked one night, but after looking at other options, I went back to add an additional night and was unable to. Plan ahead!

Only the person at the check in desk did an excellent job, the houskeeping was very loud although i had an do not disturb sign on my door breakfast staff looked sleepy and exausted and very unhappy the property needs a major upgrade and trash is all over the place outside around the building i was worried about my dog while i was walking her around the building

Decent Base for Olympic National Park

We were doing a quick 3 day tour through Olympic National Park. Most of the places in Port Angeles that were acceptable were already booked, so we checked Sequim and found the Ocean Star Inn. Check in was quick and easy. We were booked into a second floor unit, but when the desk clerk noticed our luggage, he offered to move us to a first floor room. The bed was average, the blackout curtains worked very well. The air conditioner was loud and it was hard to get the room to stay at a comfortable temperature. It tended to be either too cold or too warm. Parking was sufficient even though the motel was fully booked. The internet stopped working a few hours after our arrival. This was an issue, because the TV depends on the internet for everything, including local channels. The desk clerk gave me the password for the staff WiFi. I was able to reset the TV to use the staff WiFi, but anyone with lesser technical skills would most likely be unable to do so. I did notice that the guest internet was working again on the morning we checked out. The Sequim location does add about 20 minutes to the time it takes to get to Olympic National Park sites as compared to Port Angeles, but there were various supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance. The cheapest gas around, by the way, is right across the street at the supermarket.

The hotel is a bit old and the surrounding area is dated with older houses. It's also a bit far if Olympic National Park is your main destination. However, the value for money is excellent, making it a decent budget-friendly choice.

The person at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast! The room was perfect. Very quiet. I didn't see an elevator for the second floor so you had to carry your luggage upstairs. No pool or hot tub. Overall a great stay. I would stay there again, for sure.

Pros: Good location, good checkin process, friendly staff. Nice variety at breakfast. Cons: No elevator. However I’d still recommend staying on the second floor. Our room was on the first floor and we could hear everything from the people in the room us. Unfortunately they were up late and up early in the morning which meant so were we ☹️!! The rooms could use a refresh. The couch was disgustingly with stains. There were rust stains on the shower.
