Amazing place way up in the mountains it a great place for a big family!!! If youâre a big cook I suggest you bring some bigger pot and pans it was very clean and nice and peaceful we will definitely be back!!! And there are plenty of bears to see!!!
Upon arrival we noticed it was warm on the main & 3rd floor. On Wed 8/29 we came back to the cabin & noticed the air conditioner on the main & third floor was not working. The outside temp was over 100 making the inside close to 90. Once we realized the air was not working we contacted the host immediately who said he'd have a tech come out the next day. We stayed in the house Wednesday night, however no one slept due to the heat. We have found out that the host knew the AC was broke a week prior on 8/18. Thursday morning we left bc of the heat. We were once again told that we would be informed of what the tech said, but once again we heard nothing. Finally at 6:30 pm I reached out to the host asking for an update & was told the issue would not be fixed that day. We had 4 kids with us & the host was offering no solutions. We stressed that it's incredibly difficult to find lodging that late at night for 6 people. We contacted VRBO and after hours they put us up in a hotel. Fri morning I again reached out and got no solution. I was told he'd let me know. At 4:45 I reached out again and they said it was fixed. Got back at 6:30 pm Friday & the ac was still broke on the third floor. After requesting a refund for the days not spent there they refused and only gave us $131 back which doesn't cover 1 full day. VRBO has been AMAZING & is working to get us our money back. The views are not worth the aggravation this host has caused.
The cabin was listed as family friendly but we noticed that both staircases going up and down were either too wide for the provided baby gates or nothing on the sides of the stairway to place a gate against. The bunk bed in the lower level was rather rickety to the point that our kids slept on the floor rather than the bunk bed. The fridge was a disaster with all the drawers being broken beyond use and it was completely missing a door shelf. The fridge bulb also kept shorting out and you had to have it in just the right spot to get it to work. The cabin had 3 A/C units that looked to be from the 60âs. We set the cabin temperature to 68 and mysteriously the thermostat kept resettting itself to 72 without us changing it or being scheduled. The issue with the thermostats was brought to the attention of the host he stated not to set the thermostat lower than 5 degrees of the outside temp or the units would freeze up. It was 89 degrees outside and there was NO way we were going to stay in an 84 degree cabin and one of the units ended up freezing up and stopped working so we let it âthawâ out for 6 hours while the cabin baked. The cabin listed cooking utensils and cookware. The cabin had 1 frying pan the size of my hand, no bakeware and smaller pots. The cabin doors all had bad seals and light could be seen through the doors when closed. Window trims were falling off exposing nails. All issues were sent to the host and he said they would be addressed for next visitors. No help to us
Great Views but Owner Changed Listing after Booking
This absolutely should be a 5 star property. The cabin is great and has excellent views of the mountains. One of the big reasons I booked the property back in February was because the listing mentioned the cabin was in the Preserve Resort and showed pictures of the resort's pool and fitness center. I have 4 kids, so having access to a nearby pool was important to me. By chance, I just happened to check the VRBO listing a week or so before my stay and noticed the listing had been updated to show a completely different pool at an RV park located 10 minutes away that you have to pay $5 per person per day to use. When I confronted Justin about the changed listing, he asked if I had screenshots that could prove he changed the listing. After several frank conversations with Justin, he eventually admitted that he had changed the listing to show pictures of the RV park pool (instead of the much nicer Preserve Resort pool) and offered to pay me $40 so that my family and I could go to the RV park pool for one day. Given my family had plans to go to the nearby resort pool every day, I felt that $40 refund was incredibly inadequate and refused to accept it. I would later find out that the reason we could not use the resort pool was because Justin simply chose not to pay The Preserve Resort their pool usage fee and thus his cabin's guests are not permitted to use it either. In summary, I would not recommend renting this cabin from Justin as he clearly values money more than his integrity.
We loved our trip to Tennessee. This home was a great place to stay after our hikes in the park and trips to Gatlinburg. Our kids loved that they had their own space. The decks and view was outstanding. We loved the hot tub. The homeowners were great with responding to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone! Looking forward to returning again in the future.
The cabin was nice and had good views however as soon as we entered, there was a huge water puddle in the middle of the living room. There appeared to be a leak coming from the ceiling and the wood has already begun to warp and peel. We had to get towels and buckets to try and catch the water. Downstairs in the game room area also had water dripping in three different places on the carpet. We had to find pots from the kitchen to try and catch all the water. I notified the owner immediately and he apologized and asked if we could stop the leak and he would look into it when we left. I wasnât thrilled with that response since we had just arrived and had to basically clean and try to catch all this water. The next morning it was freezing and we discovered that the downstairs heating unit wasnât working. I notified him of that as well and he said he would have someone look at it when we left. The kids were unable to sleep downstairs in the bunk beds because the temperature dropped to 47 degrees in the downstairs area since it was well below freezing outside. I was disappointed with how the owner handled everything. He simply apologized for the inconvenience but didnât do anything about the water or the heat. It was still a nice cabin but I wish the issues were dealt with.
Location was perfect! Up in the mountains with amazing views. Cabin with the 3 floors was perfect for all, game room was great for passing the time in the evenings. Drive into Pigeon Forge is not bad to hit up all the shops. Close to State park for days we went hiking.
