We really liked the location of this cabin. It was quiet and felt isolated from the main Pigeon Forge strip and also gave a back way to Gatlinburg on highway 454. The wrap around porch gave our kids room to run around outside while raining. My kids really enjoyed the arcade game and foosball table. We thought the kitchen was very well stocked with supplies and the cabin had good furnishings. However, it could have used a vacuum. The beds were very comfortable, but the bunk beds did squeak a lot.
The biggest problem we had was the cleanliness, which is the biggest reason we do not like staying in hotels. We first noticed the problem when we arrived and the kids found a pile of about 40 to 50 bugs in the corner of the bunkroom closet. The more we looked the more we found throughout the cabin. My daughter found one crawling in the bed with her one morning, and my wife found one under her pillow another night. The fact that there were live and dead bugs means this had been going on for some time. I have a hard time believing no one ever mentioned it and everyone was okay with it. The "amazing" cleaning crew, as we were told, were suppose to have been there right before us. However, when you find that many dead bugs you really question how clean it really was. The cabin could really use a vacuum, since there was no way to remove the dead bugs. I will say Justin responded quickly to the message sent via VRBO. He had me send pictures of the bug through the email. He did ask if I would like the cleaning people come back. I told him I did through the email, but it was never vacuumed. I assume he missed the email. He responds best through the VRBO site.
He did offer to send an exterminator the day before we left, and I declined the offer. We only had a day left and I didn't want my clothes sprayed. He assured me the problem would be taken care of, but there were other things that makes me question if it will. There were other problems that really shown lack of basic maintenance. I know some of these problems, like the master bath shower head not working, was already brought to his attention. A previous guest wrote about it in the guest book, which also had pages ripped out of it. The door knob for the master bath was also broke. The face plate on the door was bent badly which says I was not the first to be locked inside. If you stay, the knob only works when turned counter-clockwise.
