I have sent you two emails the place shout be condemned.
Room was clean, but in desperate needs of refurb. TV must of been 30 years old and remote likely needed new batteries. Couldn’t get any hot water for shower. Car parking was good. £5 for 1 night stay. Guy on reception was good.

Very old building and could do with a refurb but was clean and had all we needed. Situated in the town centre which was really convenient. Staff helpful. Parking available out the back which was tight to get around but managed not to hit anything. Reasonable price.
Clean room, cosy warm. Hotel in need of refurbish. Great location and safe parking.

This hotel has so much latent potential but needs considerable investment. I stayed for 1 night and had to change rooms because of an incessant humming sound in the room coming from the cupboard/wardrobe. When I went down to reception, they said this was a common problem throughout the hotel caused by the old plumbing system. The second room was okay but was very dated with a small TV and very limited coffee in the room. If you're really on a budget then this place may suit but, from experience, a little bit more money gets you a much better hotel in Shrewsbury. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel's location was excellent. It just needs a couple of million pounds spending on it to make a gem.
Room was decent and clean. Bathrooms and corridors are a little outdated but still adequate, to be expected in an older building like this.
Building has some interesting history - enjoyed the hearth and sitting room in the main lobby.
Location was excellent, inside the walled centre of Shrewsbury town. Walking distance to pubs, shops and restaurants.
My room was spotless, bed was comfortable. Only complaint I have is strange noises coming from the bathroom, think it was from the pipes. No food available in the hotel which made it very quiet and empty.

Functional / practical accommodation, to explore Shrewsbury. Although we were on the 3rd floor - no lift and quite steep stairs.
Would have been nice to have a hotel bar and breakfast available at the hotel. But having said that the surrounding streets offer a vast range of bars and eateries so get out there and explore.
The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room was spacious and comfortable. I was on the second floor and found it difficult to find the room initially. Would not be easy for anyone with mobility issues.
It would also have been nice to have been able to have breakfast at the hotel.

The Lion Hotel is in the centre of Shrewsbury with local shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs within 5 minutes walk. Railway station is about 10 minutes walk.
My room was quiet at the back of the hotel. Only issue was there was no lift working in the hotel and shower was very difficult to control to achieve the right temperature.
Great place to stay. Get to dump the car in the carpark and leave it there as everything is on the doorstep.

Unaware that there were no kitchens or therefore breakfast. Poor bar - only bottles. Room OK but hotel tired and public areas shabby. Would not go back.
