The main problem I have with this reservation is with the arriving and check in system. After arriving in Sokcho express bus terminal we managed to get a taxi however the address and name provided here confused the hell out of the drivers. We were staying at sunrise hotel which has this virtual managed check in deal with the world state management agency. The only real reason we didn’t get lost/managed to make it to the hotel was because one of the taxi drivers looked at our map location and just said that sunrise hotel let’s go. Also the staff at sunrise hotel don’t actual have the ability to help with your room related problems. You only communicate with worldstate staff through WhatsApp chat. The actual check in process was wild I just got 4 links and room numbers and you click on the link to get number pad digits. There was no verification that you are who reserved the room. Thankfully we arrived late enough and I had WhatsApp to receive the messages from the Worldstate staff prior to arrival to the hotel. If you’re arriving early text the hotel number in WhatsApp!!!! Now all the negative stuff out of the way the rooms were awesome, great views, clean and easy to use once you know the passcode. The area around the hotel has so many great food and shopping places. Within a 10 minute walk you can get to ocean with stunning night views. The actual staff in sunrise hotel are amazing spoke perfect English. Overall would rate 3.5/5 but this don’t half option.
I found it hard to understand the check in process online as it was all in Korean and I only read English. Plus it was strange to book with one hotel name but find the room was actually in a building with a different hotel name.
The room was great once I got there. This hotel is displayed as Sunrise Hotel Jumgmun on NAVER or Google as Sota only handles some of the rooms. It’s a completely virtual check-in process with no advance communication. Luckily the concierge at Sunrise Hotel was there and was able to call them for me and talk in Korean to get me checked in. I did show up about 30 minutes ahead of checkin time at 2:30pm which may have contributed to my issues, but I spent about an hour wandering the city trying to find this hotel.
I have stayed at this property World State Residence quite a lot over the past 4 years. At least 3-4 times a year. I really like the property and it was always clean, well kept and well managed. The past 3 times I have stayed I have had problems. First is paying for a room under world state mahagement and being given a room under sunrise hotel management. I understand rooms are similar but the furniture, layout and price or the rooms are different. This trip the room I was given 1713 had tiles falling off the wall in the shower. I didn't notice until. Late in the night so didn't contact the management but the standards here have gotten much worse and it is a real shame as a regular customer to be given continuous bad treatment and having bad experiences while staying there.
