We had a great time, the house was clean and the kitchen was fully stocked. Also loved the views from the main living area!
We had some problems with the big space heater near the bathroom (the flame wouldn't stay on) but after we got a fire in the living room, we didn't need it anymore. It's very close to Wolf Creek too, which was the main reason we came. We'll come back!
Overall we liked the property location and size of the home. Home is well-situated to allow abundant Colorado sunshine into the home. We felt the listing however was misleading. When we arrived at the home the temperature in the house was 37 degrees. We quickly found after reaching out that the "thermostat" referred to in the listing is actually on a fireplace insert (and really does not function as a thermostat). Additionally, there were no ignitors or matches or kindling to start the fireplace which is vital to heating the home. We were told "you have to supply your own." If we had been told that or it was in the listing we would have been prepared but we were not necessitating a quick run into town before the very few stores closed to get what was needed to get a fire going. There are a few wall baseboard heaters but they do very little to keep the house warm. A larger propane heater near one of the bathrooms did not work. For the most part the insert keeps the house warm other than one of the bedrooms and bathrooms however if one wants consistent heat would need to get up and stoke it during the night. Kitchen is well-stocked overall but many of the pots and pans are in terrible shape and not clean, we purchased disposables while there for our use. Plenty of bathroom towels were provided but they are also in bad shape. There was only one kitchen towel (also in bad shape)-difficult to do dishes with only one towel.
We had the best time staying in this home.
The view from the master bedroom bed was great! We had plenty of room to stretch out, the kitchen was fully stocked with everything!
We had a nice time staying at this cabin with a few minor hiccups. The whole place is clean, view is very nice. For throwing your garbage you have to drive 3.5 miles to the dumpster. Not all electrical outlet works the 2 outlet by the front window doesnât work, my husband has to work while we were there and itâs a good thing we bring extension cord to plug his computer on the outlet on the side of the fire place. When we got there I let my dogs out of the truck and the yard has a lot of dog poo, my husband ended up picking up after our dog and other peoples dog. No grill even though it say on the listing, make sure you bring or buy your own fire wood you canât use the wood they have on the property. On the listing I read there are 2 coffee maker, a normal brew coffee and a Keurig I told the host I only see the keurig and she told me there should be a 12 cup coffee brew and a keurig to avoid the asking back and forth I bough my own coffee maker. In my previous experience if a property is manage by a company I only speak to 1 person from the time I checked in till I checked out, here you will speak with different people when you have a question. Also, the patio needs new furniture. Overall it was a nice relaxing stay with some rain.
We came to South Fork to ride the ATV trails. The location was prime for this and the property was prime as well. The one exception is that the garbage can is 8 miles away. We used the truck and ATV to run garbage to the van. The last bag we had to take with us and drop in a gas station garbage when we stopped. After you have the truck and trailer with ATVâs loaded itâs not easy to go out of your way to dump the trash. I feel this should have been disclosed in the listing. Otherwise if you are looking for incredible off roading and place to stay, this is it! I would have gone 5 if not for the garbage issue.
This was a nice spacious home for the 4 of us. Didn't even use one of the rooms. We could drive out atvs right from the house.
We also skied and it was convenient about 30 min drive. Beds were comfy.
Things that need improving: We recommend a welcome binder with restaurants, where to exactly access 617 for the atvs. We were familiar with the area but others may not. Maybe put some maps for all the other wonderful trails that are around. But overall it was a nice place.
Overall a very nice stay in the Alpine Village cabin in SourhFork, CO. Away from it all with great dark-sky viewing, but close enough to towns of SouthFork, Del Norte, and Creede for restaurant options, groceries, and things to do. Enjoyed hiking in the Rio Grande Natâl Forest with our pup!
About the space: a few cosmetic issues such as broken bathroom towel rack and light bulbs out in living room lamp and bathroom. Some outlets in living room not working. Also, keep in mind you will need to bring your trash across town to dump.
This may be the cleanest property we've ever rented. It felt clean to walk in and all of the linens felt and smelled fresh. There was no shortage of blankets and space heaters to keep warm. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook like you're at home. A very comfortable home inside, but it's the view that really was breathtaking! A incredible view of the mountains right out your front windows and a beautiful starry sky at night. We would absolutely stay here again!
Clean, cozy, and comfortable. We were two couples so the two bedrooms and two full baths was perfect. Could use an update in the outdoor furniture for the beautiful deck. The yard could also use some dog patrol. The trash disposal instructions were inconvenient and out of our way. You'd think given the fees - that would be part of the service.
I would have given my review as 5/5 for the property (considering value, cleanliness, etc.); but the down side was communication with Vacasa (the management company) was so poor. I asked them a question (if there was a crock pot) when I booked the place and got no response. I asked again 11 days later and still no response. Finally, the day before we checked in I got a response that said that there was not a crock pot. That's fine (a nice extra, but wouldn't change my rating anyway). But to my surprise there is a crock pot! Next, I asked about check out instructions and never got a response (as of the evening after check out). Fortunately, we didn't have any major time sensitive questions!
Otherwise, we liked the property and enjoyed ourselves!
Like the location and view. Nice clean place with plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms. Fun to see the deer come up and they arenât afraid. Very quiet as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well stocked and we loved the quiet location and beautiful views! We hope to be back!
We enjoyed our stay at this South Fork cabin. It was spotless, spacious and the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking. We got dumped on with snow when we were there, and while we were a little worried about getting stuck in our non-AWD Jeep, we were relieved to find out that the owner has a service to clear the drive. Diana the property manager was very responsive to any questions we had. It was a great spot for our Texas-reared children to play in the snow and sled, go skiing at Wolf Creek, and just relax for a few days.
Very clean and spacious house that met all our needs for our ski trip lodging. The views of the mountains right in front of the house are amazing! Just be sure to bring warm clothing for indoors and maybe some slippers. The space heaters provided for very toasty bedrooms, but the kitchen and main areas stay quite chilly in the winter. We will be back for sure!
Oh my goodness, the online pictures don't do it justice. The kids absolutely loved it.
We are out of towners and arrived ahead of schedule. Those of you wondering, we were not able to check in early due to Covid so plan accordingly. We needed to pick up snowboarding gear so ended up having to play tetris in our vehicle to pack everything in.
Otherwise, once we got there, we saw deers in the front yard grazing. What a sight!
There are 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms on the first floor and loft on second. There is no attached bathroom to the Master bedroom but it was literally down the hallway. There are heaters to help stay cozy. The loft actually was the warmest spot in the cabin.
We brought spices, coffee, paper products, laundry soap, trash bags but the cabin was properly stocked especially with coffee and spices. If anything, just bring whatever items needed incase there's none. I am definitely an overpacker. They also had board games which we brought our own but played Clue for the first time there. The kids want to buy their own Clue now.
The sunrise and sunset were breathtaking.
Diana was very responsive and helpful with every inquiry.
This was our first trip to Colorado as a family and the cabin ended up being home away from home.
Highly recommended for anyone interested. We will definitely rent this cabin in the future.
FYI - we couldn't cast onto the living room TV but the bedroom ones worked great.
There is a small grocery store called Rainbow Grocery on the main road and a cool coffee place called Rachel's Keep On Keeping On for breakfast.
