Great property for a large family. Plenty of room for everyone. Huge dining room that seated our whole family. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub and pool. Large grounds for the kids to run around or play cornhole. We would definitely recommend this place for any large group
This house was absolutely amazing very accommodating for my big group. Beds are super comfortable. The pool and Jacuzzi were also a hit, If youâre thinking about renting this place, please do not hesitate.
The property was excellent. House was well equipped. Two refrigerators side by side was perfect for our family. We appreciated extra towels for hot tub. Grandchildren loved staying in the cabin. Many hours were spent fishing in the pond! We loved the trails and firepit. Lake Michigan was wonderful. It was a super family vacation. Only drawback was the long tripback to Pennsylvania!
We have worked with many owners and managers over the years. I can honestly say that the owner of this house, Michael, is the best owner we have ever worked with. We had a couple small issues during our stay and in each case, he fixed the issue quickly and effectively. In one instance, we had rented a boat for four hours but we needed a large cooler for the food and drinks we were going to take on the boat. By the next morning, Michael had dropped off this mega cooler for us to use on the boat. The house itself has a wonderful charm about it and a beautiful piece of property. We found the kitchen to be very well equipped, and the second outdoor grill came in very handy for the size of our family. In general, we found the house to be well care for and rank it high in the cleanliness category!
Our family loved our stay at this house! The kids, aged 7-13, say this has been their favorite house that we have stayed at. This wasnât the typical house that we usually look for, as a game room with electronics is usually a key amenity we want. But with many options available on the property, the children were outside fishing, using the paddle boat, playing baseball or kickball, exploring the paths cut through the woods, or swimming in the pool every chance they got. I marked the accuracy of listing as a 4 simply because the TVâs in the bedroom have been replaced and are BIGGER than the pictures showed, so that is a good thing if people watch TV in their rooms. Again, with our family, we spent so much time outside that the only time a TV was on was in the morning in the kitchen as the kids were eating. The rooms in the house are very quiet. You do not hear noise from the other rooms, and even with a baby in our family, you could not hear him in the middle of the night from other rooms, and he was able to nap during the day without being wakened by noise. We did contact Michael a couple times during the week, and he was very responsive and prompt. Response to one of our calls actually had an added bonus of him bringing fishing poles and Bean Bag Toss boards for the house!
This estate was a perfect spot for our family reunion getaway. We were 18 people (mostly teens and adults), with plenty of space for all. The house is well appointed and very charming, with a large dining room for bigger gatherings and several smaller spaces for cozier interactions. Two of the 8 bedrooms are in the log cabin on the property, which the young adults loved to give them some independence! The property is beautiful and well-kept. The pond is not swimmable (which is fine because there is a pool!), but can float around or use the paddle boat provided. The owner is super easy to work with, and very responsive to needs and requests. All around we loved this place and would be happy to return if opportunity permits!
There were 16 of us and each person enjoyed themselves. The house was large enough and unique in its style. Plenty of outside room and nearly things to do.
Michael was quick to respond if we needed anything. We would definitely rent from him again. Very pleased.
We had a great time with family and friends from 4 to 85! The kids especially liked the cabin and the pool. Itâs a great spot with a lot to do and the beach very nearby and South Haven a quick drive to. We really enjoyed it.
We had 18 family members met up coming from Michigan, Ohio, Texas, and Georgia. It was nice to have a big space to spread out and not feel on top of each other. We did make a pros and cons list:
CONS: update pictures online (pool, cabin, etc), landscaping was dead, owner not responding to messages online, there was a mouse/droppings in cabin, not knowing about having to make beds when we arrived, no WiFi in cabin, updated bathrooms/showers
PROS: well stocked kitchen with dishes and utensils, space for everyone to eat, pool/hot tub, clean, pool towels well stocked, gorgeous grounds.
Overall we had a great experience and it was really close to Saugatuck and South Haven. Kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
We held our womenâs retreat at this beautiful home and it was perfect. The property is so serene. The house and cabin are so cozy with all the amenities you could ask for. It is very well stocked for a large group. Absolutely loved it!
Spacious home with a lot of character for a family reunion
We had a 20+ person family get together at this very beautiful former estate turned B&B turned VRBO. We loved that almost every room had its own bathroom, double fridges and dishwashers, plenty of plates and cups etc. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub, two BBQ grills made grilling dinner easy, the backyard was a great place for young and old alike to run around and play. The fire pit was perfect for campfire stories and sâmores. The host, Michael, was very responsive to our requests and issues. Just know that of the listed number of rooms, 2 rooms and a bathroom are separate from the rest of the main house in a cabin about 100yrds away on the same property, about a 3 minute walk from the back door.
Overall, Iâm sure everyone would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the house.
We had an amazing week at this lovely home. Kitchen was well equipped, ample seating for dinners and snacks. The weather cooperated so we were outside on the patio most of the time. The children fished and swam, really enjoyed the paddle boat. Pool was perfect to cool off in. A nightly fire rounded off a perfect day. Located short distances from South Haven and Saugatauk. My 4 yr old grandson came into the house and exclaimed "I just love this house!" It doesn't get better than that.
This property is beautiful and well cared for. The house is beautiful and well appointed in every way. Our family loved fishing in the pond, and the paddleboat, swimming in the pool, the hot tub and sitting around the fire pit. Kitchen was well equipped. Close to shopping and grocery. We loved wandering around South Haven and Saugatuck. Michael, the property manager was responsive and helpful. This is a perfect spot for a family vacation.
We held our annual family reunion at the Seymour house and had a wonderful time. The house is cozy and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. The pool and hot tub were a huge hit and the property is large enough for the kids to play soccer and other games.
The house description was false. It had mentioned one room upstairs was a queen bed but it was two twin beds put together covered with a sheet to make it look like itâs a queen bed. Bunkbed mattresses were horrible very thin and horrible condition. One of the showers did not work. The refrigerator was not working, wasnât getting cold at all. There were not recent pictures of the house. House did not look as shown on some pictures. Cabin had a smell. Chairs were very flimsy. Tried to reach out to the numbers provided as soon as we reached the house, but no call back or response. Two weeks after our stay they charged us extra fees for cleaning when I paid extra for a cleaning service during the booking. I didnât know I had to make the bed and clean every aspect of the house when I already paid a cleaning fee. Who wouldâve thought going on vacation that they would have to clean the house instead of being on a vacation. Even after the fact me & my family went around the house to make sure everything was intact and picked up everything and threw out all the garbage. Also we gathered the used towels and placed them by the washer so itâs convenient for the cleaning service. After trying Multiple times reaching out to the owner about our trip with no replies, instead of trying to even acknowledge the issues, they charged us nearly $600 for another cleaning fee and lies. Iâm very disappointed with vrbo and this vacation. Worst vacation ever.
We had a beautiful intimate wedding here. We had planned a beach wedding but it was too cold so we had the house as a backup. Itâs a great place to stay.
Michael is very attentive and friendly host. The location is close to the beaches and other tourist spots. This property is ideal for family reunion. The kitchen is well equipped. Library is full of interesting books to read during downtime.
We had our extended families stay at the property. The house was in excellent condition. There was 10 acres for our use, which was a big plus. The kitchen was great for cooking. The pool, pond and hot tub got a lot of use. The location was good for going into Saugatuck many times. There was enough room for our family of 16 and everyone had a great time and would stay there again.
There were 10 adults, 2 older teens, 1 12 yr old and a toddler. There was plenty of room and space for different activities.
As a negative, it was difficult and sometimes impossible to get even warm water in the showers. Also, some of the bedding was very thin and almost ragged. The towels were wonderful.
South Haven and Saugatuck are two of the prettiest beach towns on the west coast of Michigan, and this property is right between them, a short drive to either. Good town and beach access by car. Grocery store is ~10 minutes away.
The main house (sleeps 14) is large and spacious, and 4 of the 6 rooms have on-suite bathrooms, which is convenient. There is an additional 5th shared bathroom in the main house. Washer + dryer there. The kitchen is large and we cooked many large meals easily, also using the grill on the back patio. The pool and pond were big hits with our kids (ages 7+), and everyone (ages 3+) loved the large grass yard for games.
If you have more than will fit in the main house, you'll have to spill into the separate log cabin. This is a cute structure on the property, a short walk over the grass from the house. It has a separate small kitchen and a single bath, plus two bedrooms and a living area. Has A/C but no Internet, if that matters to your group.
