This cottage was adorable and cozy with two bedrooms in a quiet town. We loved it so much that we will book this cottage again in the future. Bonus: there's an oyster shop called Aphrodite Oysters down the street with fresh and delicious oysters.
The cottage is cute, view very pretty, very clean and well equipped. Lots of supplies for cooking (spices, wrap/paper products) but the sofa was in need of replacing (cushions were flattened/lumpy) as were the mattresses. We were looking forward to a little relaxation one of the days( Sunday football anyone?) but the reality is we departed early. The laundry area in the garage was very convenient and well organized and the outdoor fit pit area was great(someone is an avid gardener and does a lovely job with the landscaping but it was a shame we werenât allowed to use the outdoor fire pit. Very close to Rockland which was great. Weâd be back in heartbeat if the furnishings were renewed and could use the fire pit. Thank you.
We left early as one night was more than enough. The place is located a half block from a processing plant that had loud cooler motors going 24 hours a day, plus big trucks passing within 20 feet on the road. It was awful. On top of that there is mildew in the basement seeping into the upper level creating a toxic environment, plus the TV didn't work. We left early and forfeited one night which both VRBO and Vacasa say can't be refunded even though we informed Vacasa that morning. VRBO tells us we needed to inform them, as if they have no communication with Vacasa.
I won't use either one ever again, and I absolutely advise against staying in that location.
We enjoyed our stay here. Cottage was clean and well appointed. Loved the front porch. It was busy with lobster processing traffic going by but not so much that it was a problem. Two issues that were not good: no wifi. Zip .Zero. No internet service n this day and age is not acceptable. (which we were supposed to have according to the website.) Phoned the number provided. Zero response. V bad in my opinion. Second the fire dept was prepping to burn an abandoned house next door so there were chain saws and wood chippers every day. At least they stopped at night. To me the worst is that was no way to communicate to our landlords. Might not do Vacasa another time.
For a small cottage it was spacious, had modern amenities. The listing says harbor view but you have to look thru power lines, power poles and a lobster processing plant. The side stone steps are overgrown with vegetation making it hard to maneuver. All in all a good experience.
My husband and I decided to go away spur of the moment and discovered this adorable beach cottage in South Thomaston Maine. The cottage was in a quiet neighbor hood and was clean and cozy. The front porch had a ocean view and the sea breeze was refreshing. Beds were very comfortable and fully stocked kitchen was a plus. The WIFI was spotty at times however it wasn't a big deal. The best part was McLoon's seafood shack, which was a short walk from the cottage and had the best lobster and ocean views ever. We enjoyed this cottage immensely and would definitely return in the future.
Had the good old field of what we always called a "camp." Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and glassware, etc.
The lobster processing facility made for a bit of noise and a pretty steady stream of traffic. A lot of trucks, from pickups to semis coming in and out. Didn't really bother us a whole lot but it might bother other people. Overall the view of the water was pretty nice except for the power lines and there's not much that can be done about that. Have to have electricity after all.
