I loved my stay. There was easy access to the beach. The staff were all welcoming and helpful. The trolly transportation to downtown was a great plus, too!

The lady who checked us in was excellent. I like how the hotel is coming along with the updates being made. I did have to kill a roach in my room, had a couple if hairs in the shower. But other than that, the room seemed clean. I would have loved to have the restaurant to review but it's still under construction. Hopefully prices don't go up too much, that way I can return to try out the restaurant. I loved being able to walk over to the beach so easily. If the price is right, I will return.

The stay was good. They are in the middle of remodeling but there wasn't a lot of noise from it. Staff and manager were very helpful and quick to respond to an ac issue.

Great stay

Stayed here because it was close to family and process qere very reasonable as the resort was undergoing renovation. It will be beautiful when complete. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Property was under construction and that was NOT a minor issue. I think if the property is under so much maintenance it’s unfair to expect traveler’s to adjust and accommodate as we are traveling for leisure and hoping to have good time. Their restaurant was also closed and that was also very inconvenient. Property was undergoing some change in ownership as well as we understood.

Stay for the weekend with my husband, great location walking distance to restaurants. Beautiful hotel only one thing that needs to be workout with in the hotel, house cleaning needs to have better service when it comes to cleaning rooms is a BIG much!!!! Making sure all rooms have clean linens, pillows ,blanks and plenty of towels. We arrived at our hotel, very pleased with the size of the room but later on that night when we got back to the hotel to go to bed, the comforter and sheets had blood stains on them hotel was very understanding about the situation refund us our money back for the room. I’ll definitely give this hotel a second chance. Hopefully they can work out the kinks in their house cleaning service.

The location of this property is prime, just steps away from gorgeous St. Augustine Beach and lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. I was told by staff at check-in that the hotel was purchased by Hilton and undergoing a major renovation, so there are definitely inconveniences and construction going on, but crews start and finish at reasonable times. It made sense why the rate was so reasonable compared to other properties. In the long term, this place is set to be a great destination for those looking to relax by the beach. The water pressure is low, but otherwise, the room was comfortable and quiet, the beach was magical (go at sunrise!), the staff were all friendly and helpful, and the restaurants I tried nearby were incredible. I really enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is under renovation. Pictures on web site are old and not updated. Restaurant not in operation and no food service available. No ice machines. Room mostly renovated. Shower low water pressure and no shelves to put shampoo or conditioner on.

Under renovation, not up to Hilton standards.

This hotel is under renovations and probably shouldnt be open during the process. Maid service gave us clean towels, but didnt clean the room. There was hair in the shower, and no bathroom vanity lighting other than a floor lamp. The outdoor hot tub needed cleaning. The location was great for us.

This was our 5th stay at this hotel. When we booked in 12/24 their website said renovations were underway to dining room & spa and these areas would be closed. When we arrived nearly the entire hotel was under construction or being painted. Exterior doors had new locks that room Keys did not work in. Stairs were off limits except in an emergency. Bathroom in our room was unfinished: light switches not connected to lights, edging & grouting undone in bathroom, no soap dish in shower . Additionally, the new owners added a ten dollar daily parking fee where there had not been one in the past. One staff member told us the renovations would be finished in June. That did not help us in March! I believe the hotel should have closed while these renivations were taking place. We were disappointed.

The hotel is under renovation. Many sections are closed. When we got to our room the keys didn’t work. Another couple showed up at the same time with the same assigned room, so I went down to the lobby and they told me they assigned me the wrong room. There’s no ice makers on the floors so you have to go down to the lobby to get a little bag of ice. Bottom line I think this hotel is going to be great after the renovations are done. Another odd thing I noticed is that there’s only one elevator for the whole hotel, so even though the hotel wasn’t busy we had to wait a while for the elevator.

We picked Castillo Real because my husband and I stayed here on our first trip to FL 15 yrs ago and wanted to bring our children. They did warn us there was construction but not to this extent. I would not stay here again. I remember loving it 15 years ago. It's newly remodeled and our toilet paper holder was broken and there is no lighting by our mirror. They should not offer rooms during this extent of construction. It is very uncomfortable. To top it off they charge for parking. They have their own lot in a huge tourist town. Of course we will have a car, this isn't chicago. There are no shelves in the shower. How can we be charged full price and a resort fee if all the services amenities are not availabile, there should be a discount when booking during construction. There were only 2 luggage carts for the entire hotel. Also our couch was very dirty. I didnt feel comfortable sitting on it.
