We had high hopes but we were disappointed.

Desert Color on the surface has it all! An impressive man-made lagoon with pool and other amenities. However, the lagoon was closed due to chemical problems for part of our stay, the pool was very murky, and our hot tub wasn't clean enough to use. To be fair, the management company cleans the hot tube bi weekly, but it wasn't enough to make a difference.The units are also very close together so parking anything other than a mini cooper in the driveway makes for a challenging endeavor. General parking is also limited so be prepared to walk some distance if you have more than one car. The construction of the units, and quality of workmanship are also less than desirable. The floors are squeaky, and the AC units were so loud (having been placed right next to the window of our suite) that we had to turn it off at night in order to sleep. Then we would wake up so hot we had to turn it on again. We called maintenance but they said that the original contractor (Cole Homes) would need to address the problem -- which they never did. The large and spacious lagoon was beautiful indeed. But it you want to escape the direct sun for some shade, good luck! They have shade umbrellas but they are very few and small. If you don't get there right when the lagoon opens you won't be able to get one. We had high hopes for Desert color but we won't be going back. This might explain why so many first generation (new) owners have their units up for sale.

Under construction but not an issue

Internally some issues. Externally, construction everywhere. The biggest issue was the master bed which was DANGEROUS! The bed frame sticks out at the foot end and could cause serious injuries. We had to put pillows around the corners to prevent. The space between the end of the bed and the dresser is very narrow as well. Compound problem. Also, you need towel rackets on the bathrooms.

Memorable Thanksgiving

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this incredible condo over Thanksgiving, and it exceeded all our expectations. From start to finish, our experience was great. The condo had plenty of space and the kitchen table was large enough to seat 10+ and there was plenty of room at the counter. The amenities provided were top-notch and the kitchen was fully equipped which made cooking easier. Only downfall was the parking for the trailers. We arrived late at night and the directions we were given weren’t the best. It was a ways out and in the middle of a field, but I believe they were in the process of finishing a parking lot closer. Overall would absolutely recommend and would stay at again.

Great place for groups

We had 8 guys that stayed in this rental for a golf trip. It was nice and clean, 6 beds were bunks, so ideal for groups with more kids. The communication was great with the rental agency. I’d recommend this place to anyone

Yearly girls trip!!!

9 of us ladies had the best time on our girls trip. We loved how close the lagoon was, also that they had all the paddle boards and chairs we needed. Everything was perfect and the hosts were phenomenal. I can’t wait to bring my family and grandkids back!

Family gathering

Place was well equipped and had a great layout for gathering and letting each person have some space. Downside was the two VERY loud air conditioning units right outside the primary bedroom window. Hard to sleep with them turning on and off all night, vibrating the wall. Parking was also difficult and lots of construction going on so it’s not quiet.

The house was beautiful, well stocked, and very clean upon arrival. We had several occasions that we needed to reach property management and they were friendly and prompt to respond via phone & text message. Unfortunately the A/C unit next to the Master Bedroom was so loud we were only able to sleep our small son in the room. This was very disappointing. The other inconvenience was needed to walk on a rocky path to the front door to access the unit, even though parking was directly off the garage. We were informed that a car code wasn't available for our use. This created our next largest issue. The property management failed to notify us that a golf cart rental company would be coming by to pick up the cart a prior renter had contracted. They entered the garage and removed the cart without us having prior knowledge. Imagine our surprise and concern when we arrived back at the unit to a missing golf cart. The more concerning piece however was that the door between the garage and unit was left unlocked when we exited through the garage earlier in the day. Which also meant that any valuables or personal belongings left in the unit were completely accessible! Without a key to the garage or a garage code, the only way to fully secure the unit when unoccupied was to use the front door only, travel the rocky path back to the car. This really needs to be thought through better in the future.

Our family had a wonderful time. The VRBO was perfect for our family. Good location. We rented a golf cart so we could explore the complex. Only bad thing was the construction. Lots of construction! Condo was well equipped.

resort feel

We had a great time at desert colors. The pool fab and bands to get into the pool were not at the townhome but were quickly brought over so we could use the facilities. The only think i did not like was the parking and driveway situation. it is really tight in there. when all the units are done and rented out I do not think they will have adequate parking. The one car garage was tight with the garbage holders on either side of the drive way.
