During our stay we had a catastrophic plumbing failure of the third floor toilet. Multiple components failed upon flushing, leading to an incomplete flush, which overflowed the bowl, constant run into the tank due to failure of flushing components, a rotted-out connection between the tank and the bowl, which led to water pouring out from places water should not leak from, and a broken water shut off, which meant we could not turn off the water to the toilet. While, thankfully, most of the water pouring out was coming from the tank, it was mixing with toilet water that had over flowed from the bowl, leading to a black water situation that children where having to help contain. We were forced to use every towel in the house to try to contain the flood, including our own personal beach towels. When I called the number to report this emergency situation, I got an automated service that put me on hold for several minutes. When I texted through the vrbo app, I got told that they’ll pass the message along. I did figure out that they’ll app line isn’t monitored when, after reporting what was going wrong, it texted back something like, “that sounds great!” Like, what?!?!Our vacation time was cut into while we scrambled to stop the overflow and then clean it up. We had extra loads of laundry to deal with because of this. I asked about compensation, but the rental company has not responded.
