Excellent location, terrible cleanliness
This was our first trip to the area. The location was amazing. St George Island Plantation was a beautiful gated community that provided a great amount of security to our family. The beach and island is beautiful. The amenities with the gated community were wonderful. The owners did provide bicycles. 3 out of the 4 were usable. However, the upkeep of the property was not adequate. I was aware it was an older home and that's perfectly fine, but the house was not clean by any means. There was still sand throughout the house when we arrived. Cobwebs blanketed the windows. There were what appeared to be spider eggs on the backs of some of the furniture. We found several cockroaches running around. Dog hair was still on the furniture. One of shower heads was broken off when we arrived, and the owners requested we be at the house to let a plumber in. We had an infant with us and we had to set up a pack and play for her to sleep in. When we scooted a bed some we found a huge build up of dirt and feathers. All the bedrooms were on the bottom level of the home. They all had a strong musty, mildew smell. We've stayed in many different vrbo locations before and this was our first time experiencing this. I will reiterate again that the location was great, just not the property we stayed at.
