We had a lovely family reunion at the Taggart House. Check in was easy. George is available for any questions. He provides entry details and further information is conveniently in a printed doc in the house. The house is as beautiful as pictured- the porch was an absolute delight for relaxingâŠand outside on the big lawn we used the croquet set and even my 87 and 89 year old parents dropped their canes and joined in! Ditto for the big indoor pool table! We cooked in the ample kitchen, as well as ordered in, and went to restaurants as well. The houseâs location is perfect - so close to Tanglewood, Naumkeag, the Mount, Norman Rockwell, Shakespeare and Co. There are beautiful walks/jogs from the house (thereâs a nice hike and loop in walking distance) and itâs an easy walk to town. The Historic Mission House is directly across the street. I loved the en-suite bathrooms and comfortable mattresses for every room combined with the historic grand old beauty of the house.
We rented this property as a location for the extended family to base themselves over our daughter's wedding weekend as well as a location for the wedding party to get ready for the event. The house is fabulous -- lots of space, fabulous in many ways. It should have been a fantastic stay as the bones were all there, but there were some problems. The linens in the house -- both towels and bed linens were not clean (or were stained) and not sufficient. One bath towel per person was not enough and there were no spares. There was one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, no tissues, no garbage bags, no dish soap -- generally the house was appointed with only the bare minimum -- insufficient given the way we were using the house and the price point. We ended up using dry cleaning bags to clean up the house before departing. The internet went out while we were trying to get ready for the wedding. We knew it was a circuit breaker issue. We didn't hear back from the owner until after we had all left for the wedding -- she left a message telling us to reset the modem which was not the issue. That night the smoke detectors started beeping. It was a sleepless night for a very tired family. Again, there was a delay in hearing back from the owner -- she reached me once we were checked out and on our way home. Caitlin seems lovely and I am not happy leaving this review, but faster contact and adequate and timely addressing of our concerns would have made this a much more enjoyable stay.
The Taggart House was a wonderful place to gather with friends and family to celebrate my birthday. The house is beautiful; the rooms are large; kitchen is great; bugs kept us from hanging out in the backyard but the conservatory was light and bright and a perfect spot for cocktails. We loved the proximity to the town of Stockbridge and we would walk back and forth a couple times a day. We had a couple of small issues, and Caitlin was very responsive in answering my questions/concerns. All in all, a really great getaway.
The house was absolutely fabulous - even better than the online pictures. We were there for a âsibling/spouseâ reunion. There were so many spaces to hang out - huge dining room, porch, living room & bonus was the fire pit. The hosts, Caitlin & George, were delightful and very responsive. The house is beautifully furnished and it is centrally located to several cute artsy towns and nearby attractions. If youâre looking for someplace special, this is the place!!!
We had an amazing time. We had several out of town guests who stayed at the home and then a birthday party with local guests in the ballroom. The ballroom is absolutely stunning. The chef enjoyed the kitchen. There was plenty of parking and a beautiful setting. I would stay again.
our group of 10 returned to this beautiful property for the second time. Everything was wonderful, but most especially , the location and the quick responsiveness from the owners. We highly recommend this property.
This was our fourth stay at this magnificent property and we continue to be amazed by its beauty and grandeur. Our host have provided us with everything to make our experience perfect. The house is well equipped and well-maintained. I would highly recommend this rental for a first-class experience. Thank you to George and Caitlin for their hospitality and kindness..
Property was beautiful and walkable to town. House is old but very nice. Large enough to accommodate 9 women! Loved sitting outside enjoying perfect weather! All in all had a wonderful experience!
Beautiful property with all the amenities. Our group of 12 relaxed on the sun porch, played bocce and cornhole in the huge backyard, and enjoyed the town of Stockbridge. The owners suggestion of dinner at Alta was much appreciated as we had a fabulous dinner there.
The communications with hosts leading up to and during stay was excellent. While we were there, they were very helpful with suggestions and shared with us the history of the property.
The house was perfect for our family celebration and all bedrooms were comfortable and inviting. The outside property was well suited to outdoor activities. The location could not have been better.
A couple of suggestions for improvement: the lighting in the sunroom and the media room was insufficient. Some amenities could be added such as soap for the showers and tubs, and additional toilet paper.
Our overall experience was very positive. We would stay there again and would recommend it to others.
A group of our college friends and their spouses who were in Stockbridge to celebrate my daughterâs wedding including her godparents. Such a treat to stay in the beautiful Taggart House. Location is perfection! Everyone loved their beautiful rooms. We had a lovely dinner at the big dining room table the first night- couldnât have been better or more fun!
Our group of 10 friends really enjoyed this beautiful historic property. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and yet wonderful, large areas where we could all gather together. We especially appreciated the location, so close to the center of Stockbridge, which afforded us the opportunity to take many walks around the area.
Fun and funky house! We are a group of 8 women who travel together so we need a lot of space which this place has!
Itâs like a grand old museum
We had a a great time
Perfect home for hosting multiple families. Tons of en suite bathrooms and king-sized beds. Only ten minutes by car from Tanglewood and walking distance to Naum Keeg and Main Street shops. Itâs really a gem.
The Taggart House exceeds expectations. It is shipshape, fully equipped with responsive and friendly hosts/owners. Its historic but also great fun for a group with lots of spaces for meals, meal prep, socializing, TV watching, outdoor dining, fire pit etc. Its a memory maker for all who stay here.
We were four couples (all in our 50s) and we had a GREAT time at this beautiful home. The hosts, Caitlyn and George, were accommodating, responsive and helpful (including when the battery for the front door died and when we had problems with one of the upstairs thermostats). The house was clean, all the bedrooms upstairs had en suite bathrooms, the kitchen was well appointed, the great room with the tv was comfortable, the dining room was huge, the back porch was lovely and overlooked the beautiful grounds, and the shower water pressure throughout all the bathrooms was exceptional (words I've never uttered regarding a rental home or hotel). We had a wonderful stay overall !!!
We are seventy-something year old women who annually rent a special place for our 'retreat." Taggart House is so far the loveliest place that we have rented. It's clean, easy parking, sidewalks, restaurants, local attractions, good beds, let me again mention "clean" which is really important to us. En suite bathrooms for all. Just fabulous.
