The Alexander is really well placed just 12 mins from the beach and itâs got good security and I was upgraded to a double room from a single which was a wonderful surprise. My room was spotlessly clean with a comfy bed with nice white linen and a spotless bathroom with bath and shower and fluffy white towels. There was a big flat screen tv (I didnât use it) and a view over the rooftops down to the sea. I slept very well. Just be aware as it is an old Victorian house that the sound proofing isnât brilliant. I could hear a child running around and crying in the room above me early evening but I slept undisturbed. Very good stay for one night in Swansea as I was passing through. And Lynn the owner was very helpful and charming when we spoke on the phone (I booked last minute so she gave me the instructions to self check in - all v easy). Thanks.
Disappointed
We waited on the street in the rain trying to contact the manager to get the code to the front door & our room. The bed was crippling. A woman attempted to break into our room while we were dressing the next morning. We checked out two nights early because of the discomfort & safety issue.
I appreciate first of all that this was a cheap room, but only because advertised at 50% discount so should have been ÂŁ52 per night. The room was like an icebox and the radiator had been jammed to off position. I therefore had to layer up in clothing and even put my outer jacket on when going to sleep. As the premises are unmanned, there is a telephone number for guests to call - this number did not connect to a person. Therefore I was not able to get any help with this. It was the most uncomfortable situation to be in. Definitely not recommended during cold spells
