I was warmly met when I went into the main pub to check in. The accommodation was in a separate building at the back. I had a lovely room upstairs with a small balcony which was a nice addition for such a lovely evening. The area around the pub was conducive both for a long walk as well as dining options. The room was clean with good decor and good spec fittings. This was for all areas except the shower/bath combo which had a clunky shower curtain which restricted movement. This was instantly forgiven, however, when I discovered the shower head had 3 settings, one of which was comparable to a shiatsu massage which was sorely needed. I had a decent night's sleep although a fan in the room would have been a nice touch. Breakfast seemed to have been sourced locally and was cooked very well. All in all I very much enjoyed the stay and would look to book myself in there again when I am next in the area.
The facilities were very good. Staff couldnât do enough to make our stay anymore perfect. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend a visit.
A very enjoyable stay. Plenty of free parking. Staff helpful and friendly. Food very good. The only downside was the overall cleanliness of our room (number 10) plenty of cobwebs in the bedroom (Should take less than 5 minutes to remove them) The bathroom could do with more time spent on it. We found the previous occupants hair in the bath. Around the taps could do with a good clean and maybe a new clean toilet seat. Little things that make a massive difference. With a little extra cleaning you would have 5*****
Room was lovely, cosy and very spacious. The actual pub was quaint, great menu, enjoyed our meal and the service was fantastic!! A good find and everything you need nearby plus a 8-10 min drive into Swindon.
Ive stayed at a number od Butcombe pubs and they are all excellent, but unfortunately i couldnt say the same about this one. The staff were all trying their best but didnt seem to have much training or leadership. The food i had was overcooked and over priced, including the breakfast. Not sure i would stay here again.
This is a great little place to stay on your travels, but please call them to check if they do food before you book. Unfortunately, I checked in, asked to book a table and was told they don't do food on certain nights of the week. It would have been nice if they had let me know. They recommended the pub across the road for food, but i didn't fancy walking around a place i didn't know on my own. The rooms are great though. Definitely worth a look.
The White Hart is wonderful; all the staff (too many to name), were so accommodating and kindhearted. I was welcomed and treated like family versus âjust another guest.â What an amazing experience!
