Great pub accommodation with ensuite pretty good for a pub. Good cold beer and bistro buzzed and food excellent. Stopped to stay overnight from the west to the east
The hotel and bar area was good.
But our room was dirty. And we decided not to stay. For the 3 nights we had booked.
So i handed back the keys to the Duty manager. Still waiting for a refund.
A typical country pub - great as a stopover rather than a holiday. A little noisy, including the train station almost opposite, but closing the window helps. Not suitable if you struggle with stairs. Wonderful cafes right next door.
Room was just enough and I didn't need anything more, suited my needs perfectly. Good bistro food and beverage choice. Great choice of shops and cafes nearby and easy access to rail.
Staff were not present to check me in for 55 minutes. Staff member could not be located. Eventually turned up, no apology was provided and she was annoyed that I was checking in. Never again!!
Our family room was essentially a room with a double bed and a creaky bunk for the kids in a small room with a tiny en-suite. The rooms havenât been updated since the 80âs and there was a heavily soiled mattress stored under the bunks. The furniture in the shared area was dated and damaged, the room smelt strongly of ciggies as our family room was above the local pub smoking/outdoor drinking area so not a lot of sleep was had on the weekend. Linen was clean. We booked because this was the cheapest stay in the region and it showed - I wonât make that mistake again!! A plus was that it was close to shops as rooms accessed the Main Street of the town.
About what you would expect from a older style pub stay. We only stayed one night while on a road trip so it worked well for us. Limited parking on site at the moment due to new construction at the rear of the property.
Noisy at night owing to late drunk patrons - needed ear plugs to be able to sleep.
No air conditioning, so I wonder how the room would be heated in winter.
Well situated close to shopping, parking and train station.
Shared balcony overlooking the township.
Has on suite accommodation, unusual for a local hotel.
Being close to train station means coal trains all night quite noisy.
