Fantastic, unique, clean, comfortable place to stay. Brewery, pub, restaurant on site. Walkable to many restaurants, shopping, and the ship we were boarding. Friends liked visiting us at the pub and we will highly recommend to others!
Shower water pressure was a mere trickle... Corner room (#202) had us hear every vehicle and motorbike, which ALL had modified exhausts... So barely any sleep that night. Not the hotels fault, but the location on the corner ... ! ... And at 7.01 the next morning , council started their road works, again not hotels fault just lucky I guess. Convenience at the cost of no sleep .. As good as it seemed, wont be staying there again.
Well placed to walk The Rocks area and surrounds. Great Pre Cruise accommodation, lots of fun, unique, clean and comfortable.
Hospitality, staff and food and beverage was everything you could hope for.
I booked a premium room with king bed 3.5 months before check-in. I got a room with a queen sized Murphy bed (hide-a-bed) with a mattress as old as the hotel. Shutters that don't close. Paint peeling on door and trim. Single pane windows with no noise reduction. Garbage pick up at 3am right under my window. Air conditioninf blowing directly on my head whilst in bed. The property should be ashamed of themselves for using this room for guests.

Lovely old hotel. Expected it to be just how it's was. Very little interaction with safe. No lift but it was an historical hotel and would not have had one back then. TV in odd place and couldn't real watch it. Great location. Bar area great.
Great to stay in such a convenient position easy to walk to the station , opera house , harbour bridge, circular quay .
Quite noisy because of all the building works being carried out. They started before 7.30 am !
Lots of places close by for breakfast. Hotel restaurant was great, only open on Wednesday-Sunday.
Quaint, historical prpoerty with lots of character and great beer and food selection.
We booked for location to cruise terminal.
Not suitable for people with mobility issues as rooms are on the 2nd floor and only accessible by stairs. Probably better suited to younger clients who like a bit of night life as the noise from the streets below can interfere with your sleep if like us you retire early to bed.
All in all we did enjoy our stay but probably wouldn't book again
I wish it had been a bit cleaner.. there was a strong mold smell that sort of made me want to review. Not the worst place for the price. But generally a bit dirty with a very uncomfortable spring mattress and
Loved the location. With no lift it was hard for us to go up and down the stairs. It is a older building so don't expect all new stuff. The beer was wonderfull in the bar. I would stay again just would stay on floor 1.
So charmingly unique to stay in a historical property like this. The service and bar atmosphere were great and the room was very nice. Only had the bean dip but it was AMAZING! Also, very good location for walking to the Opera house etc.
Very nice and helpful staff.
Interesting place to stay as it is the oldest hotel in Sydney.
Room was good size.
Good location.
Pub on ground floor is good.
Front desk is not open during evenings or weekends.
No elevator, so luggage has to be carried up and down 3 flights of stairs.

We liked staying there and the bar was fun. Our shower didnt provide anything more than a trickle and my bedside light did its own thing, turning on and-off at will.
Excellent brewery and location . Rm 301 was spotless spacious thanks to Stella. No lift however staff helped tote luggage up stairs and offered luggage storage. Bar food was tasty and a lively place to relax over beers with bottles and tap.
Liked accommodation overall better than Hilton.and The Rocks over Darling Harbor for food and sightseeing.!
