Charming 3 bedroom cabin 2 minutes from downtown Tahoe City with added convenience of 2 car garage. Very woodsy neighborhood, house backing up to greenbelt with the Granlibakken ridge and ski trail to Paige Meadows just behind. The back yard is perfect for sledding! Just down the street from our other property, Bonanza.

Great deck with propane Weber grill. Sleeps 8 with downstairs room having a Queen bed, upstairs bedroom with a Queen and one Twin, 2nd upstairs room with a Queen and 2 Twins. 2 full bathrooms, one on each level. Living area with TV/DVD, fully-equipped kitchen, and dining area for 8 people. Sorry, no long distance phone service, but internet is included!

- Winter access: Chains or snow tires are often required in winter
- BBQs (propane) are not provided during winter (November–Memorial Day). Charcoal grills are banned in our area.
- Firewood is not supplied during the summer months (Memorial Day through October)
- Shampoo/conditioner/bodywash are not included
- Most have supplies like flour, sugar, salt & spices, but these are not guaranteed items
- We do not provide additional towels for beach use and encourage renters to bring them for summer stays
- For all dog-friendly properties, there is an additional fee of $100+tax per dog.
- Placer County STR rules: The county of Placer implemented a new Short Term Rental Ordinance which is very important for guests to abide by. Fines range from $1,500- 5,000 and can be issued to guests who are not in compliance. A full list of rules is attached as a photo in this listing. Some Highlights include: Quiet hours are from 9pm to 8am. No noise shall be heard across property lines. No outdoor speakers or amplified sound are to be used at any time. Dogs must be leashed at all times when outside of a property and all pet waste needs to be picked up.

Nice Tahoe retreat

We stayed here for the Tahoe Triathlon. It's a great place for a group. The management was very responsive when we had a plumbing problem. Very impressed.

Amazing Stay in Tahoe

The house was perfect for my family. I was traveling with my husband and my parents and there was more than enough room. It was great that there was a bedroom and bathroom on the first level. Overall the house had everything we needed.

Great stay for a race weekend

We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. There were plenty of beds for the 7 of us to sleep before heading to the early morning race start at Sugar Pine Point. The location was really close to Tahoe City for restaurants and grocery stores but had a trail right behind it to the Paige Meadows.

A perfect place for our group

We stayed here with our 25 year old son and a friend of his to ski. Our daughter and her friends are working here for the ski season so they joined us each evening for dinner and to hang around. The wood stove, Netflix accessible Tv, big table for meals and games was perfect. Plus we liked putting our rental car in the garage since is snows so much! The skiing was amazing and the lake views from restaurants in town and from the ski slopes is absolutely beautiful! The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed.

Perfect Christmas treat!!!

Das Berghaus was perfect for our family. The house was comfortable, the kitchen easy to work in and fully stocked with cooking needs, including a number of spices. The configuration of the upstairs bedrooms allowed our grandson to share a room with his parents. Too, we so utilized the sledding hill right behind the house and trails above the hill, including snowmobiling. Our grandson and his grandpa enjoyed building a life-size snowman they named "Grandpa Boo." We also used the woodburning stove almost every night. It was a wonderful Christmas at das Berghaus. As a family, we vote on every house that we rent for vacation. Everyone agreed that this house was a certain possibility for future visits to Tahoe City. If you decide to stay at this house, seek out the spectacular lake overlook in the neighborhood.

Great Winter Location for Families

We have young children and this property is located on a hill that provided perfect sledding for the kids right out the back doorstep. It is also located nearby the ski resorts and other recreation. The Garage kept the snow off my vehicle and the property management company even provided courtesy snow cleaning of the deck since we had 4 inches overnight. It was a pleasure to have firewood onsite and a nice wood-burning stove to enjoy. The only surprise was the lack of coffee and shampoo provided. They have a coffee machine but not coffee, and there was only handsoap provided in the bathrooms. Overall we had a great time and want to go back soon!

Beautiful mountain weekend

The house was nice and cozy with access to a great country road that lead to Paige Meadow. Was well stocked with wood for the fireplace. The downstairs bedroom was cold, but all of the beds had electric blankets. Two burners on the stove didn't work, but they brought us a hot plate that helped with the cooking situation. Overall a lovely stay.

Dirty, Broken Appliances & BEWARE PET OWNERS

Overall, a cozy home, but would not recommend bringing your dogs to this property. Pros - well stocked, convenient location close to Tahoe City & Palisades Cons - just about everything else Cleanliness is quite poor - there were cobwebs in the corners, on the chandelier light over the dining table, TONs of dust behind the TV etc. Very evident that it isn't fully cleaned down after each stay. General use areas were okay. The stove is clearly broken. The back left burner barely works, and the front right burner is completely missing. Not what you'd expect from a home. Also despite all the advertising in the home about the fireplace, they don't provide matches or anything to start a fire so if you want to do that, make sure you bring a lighter of some sort. In addition, there are tons of things that are scattered throughout the home that seem like they were just left there like a water bottle, or an appliance clearly from before the 90's. Most importantly, I would not recommend this as a place to bring your dogs even though it is listed as dog friendly. After checkout, the property management group are making false accusations of there being an accident and are going to try to charge. Would not recommend staying here with pets and going through the headache of dealing with this process. I will give a + to management being responsive and helpful. Things could just be more polished

Birthday Weekend Escape

Despite the smoky air all over the West Coast, we all came together from CA, WA, and ID to celebrate my birthday in beautiful Tahoe City. This cozy home was perfect for 7 us of plus furry friends. We loved the trail at the back of the huge backyard, the proximity to the coffee shop (with amazing pastries) and the closeness of the bike path. We easily biked from home all the way to Squaw Valley for pickle ball and back. Next time we will float the Truckee River. The home is also well stocked and we ate nearly every meal there. Overall we felt we had escaped COVID, wild fires and everything else here in Tahoe City and we can't wait to go back.

Horrific, unsafe check-in process

This is a nice house in a great location. But the management company behind the rental is not very good and are incredibly impersonal. Everything about the stay is automated; they don't even give you a phone call the day of check-in, they just send you an email to get the key to the house from a lockbox at the door. The problem is that this email with the code is also automated and low and behold, the code was wrong. I was in a rush to get to a wedding and didn't have time to wait on getting the correct code from the after-hours emergency people. It took about 25 min to get the right code. I compared notes with a friend in a house nearby managed by the same company, and his house's lockbox also had the exact same code! This is a huge security risk and quite lazy on the part of the management. Not to mention, he also had the same experience as me with the wrong code on his email. We did try using each other's keys on the doors for fun and the locks were different. I was kind of surprised to be honest. There was also an electric bear fencing system that was supposed to be turned off upon our arrival. It wasn't (of course). They tell you about it in the email but if you didn't look close enough, you'd probably miss it. This is also a huge liability for someone to accidentally electrocute themselves. When I checked out, the person on duty just kind of laughed off my complaints and made no effort to make things right. Poor business practice. The bottom line: if you can find a similar house managed by a different company, I'd go with them. You never know what kind of other security risks that this company will have you take on.

Perfectly Located!!

We enjoyed a wonderful Labor Day weekend at Das Berghaus. The property management company was extremely responsive to any questions & the check-in instructions were easy to follow. The home is easy walking or biking distance to Tahoe City, which was great for the holiday weekend. No getting stuck in traffic!! The home had all amenities you’d expect from a Tahoe rental. Very clean & comfortable. Plenty of windows that allow for a great cross breeze, plus it includes 2 large fans & 2 small fans. Wonderful deck for BBQs & relaxing. Very quiet neighborhood & relatively little traffic. Obviously this is a well cared for home & loved by the owners.
