Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Overall, this property has potential, but there were several things we wish had been disclosed in the listing so future guests know what to expect. The biggest surprise was the location. It is a residential area with NO services, so plan ahead and bring everything you might need. Or drive to Tillamook for everything. The kitchen includes the basic appliances, but there are no pantry staples whatsoever—no salt, pepper, coffee, filters, cooking oil, or anything similar. While hosts aren’t required to provide these items, we’ve stayed in many VRBOs and have always found at least a few basics or a note letting guests know to bring their own. The same goes for the washer and dryer: they’re advertised in the listing headline, but no laundry detergent is provided, and that’s not something most travelers pack. The house initially appeared clean, but after pulling back a bedspread on one bed, we found it wasn’t. The decorative couch pillows also appeared dirty and around the couch. The beds were very worn, sagging toward the middle, and not comfortable for sleeping.A few small conveniences would also make a big difference. There wasn’t a single hook in the bathroom to hang towels, and no hair dryer was provided.None of these issues alone would have been deal-breakers if they had been clearly stated in the listing. Better communication and a more detailed description would help guests arrive prepared and avoid unnecessary surprises, especially given how remote the property is.
