I'd prefer to keep it a secret lol...but if you're looking for a quiet, simple home in a quiet little enclave of quintessential beach houses, along one of the quietest stretches of coastline this is one of them. One queen size bed/bedroom is all WE need but could also accommodate plus 1-2 little kids in the second bedroom's bunkbeds (a bit of a tight squeeze as it also contains the washer & dryer). The kitchen is nice though it could definitely use some new/additional cookware & utensils (ex: Knives. There are 2 as of last count, neither of which are flatware, one is huge the other is tiny and neither of them sharp so we bring our own lol) but otherwise the house is well appointed and cozy.
Great stay, cozy inside while high winds and tides kept us inside. Lots of books and games available and just steps to the beach when the weather allowed!
The location of the home is excellent .. the beach is just a few feet away⊠we loved it ! The sunsets were truly amazing. The key pad did not work ⊠thankfully we had enough signal to call for assistance and were able to use a key that was on the porch that is used by the housekeeper's. The house did not have proper heating, we had to use all the portable heaters available to stay warm. I think if heating is an issue then fire wood should be supplied by the owner. The home itself could use some updates but in general itâs a great place. Lots of books for the kids to read.
We loved the location and house BUT the mini split was the only source for heat and the heat wasnât working with the nighttime temperatures in the low 40âs. There were 3 small space heaters and 1 was broken as well. The freezer wasnât working properly either. Lost about $25 in frozen food. Last but not least the main bathroom appeared spotless but had the worst body odor smell. Everything was clean but near the toilet was where the smell was emanating from. If those 3 things were resolved it would of been the perfect trip!
For a little old beach house itâs decorated with a sophisticated eye for design. Loved having an entry way to keep sand and shoes and coats out of the living spaces. And that porch has the best views! Loved being able to vacation with our dog as well. Great spot!
This was my favorite beach stay yet. There are unobstructed ocean views from inside the house and the beach is literally a 20 second walk out the front door! Very private and quiet place. The house is perfect for 2 children and 2 adults (and a dog!). The tide pools at the south end of the beach were an added bonus!
The pros: excellent location on a quiet, long beach; nicely decorated; quiet; very clean; plenty of linens.
The cons: check-out time is 10am too early when they ask you to run the dishwasher and wash the linens then an unsolicited email from Vacasa saying you can check out later if you $$$. Could use some more items in the kitchen like a colander, serving utensils, regular size coffee mugs (not 5oz copper ones)
Overall: would recommend it if you're looking for a quiet getaway on the beach.
There was cleaning that should have been done, bedding, throw on bed was full of sand, and the floor throughout kitchen and entry hall was full of sand, needed to clean before we could use.
Overall house was great location and good size for 2 people, would not try to squeeze more in.
Also the system between VRBO and VACASA sucks and your customer service at VACASA is none existent. I will never rent a Vacasa rental anymore.
This place has it all. Spectacular view, easy beach access (directly across the street!) it is beautifully remodeled and decorated, super comfy bed and couch, and the home is just so spacious and thoughtfully laid out - perfect for the two of us. We love the smaller coastal towns, and uncrowded beaches, and this place fit the bill perfectly. Especially for the stormy weekend that we spent there staying cozy inside with the views while making homemade pasta in the lovely kitchen. It was a wonderfully peaceful getaway . Thank you so much for hosting us, we canât wait to come back!
I do not like having to deal with two separate agencies - VRBO and Vacasa. I have written a long update for Vacasa. The location of the house is beautiful (a true beach house). However, there is only one way in and one way out. The landslide (wind related) took out the power poll and traffic was blocked for many hours. Power was out for ~5+ hours, we lived in darkness because there were no candles. On top of that there is no cell service. you need Wi-Fi. If there was an emergency, you are SOL. I burned myself pouring coffee (the coffee carafe handle was broken and the coffee spilled all over me). My son fell down the "step-up" inside the house because of the darkness and that "step-up" into the living room is dangerous. this house is not a location for anyone who is disabled (problems with walking). One of the windows facing the ocean is rusted shut, the blinds are horrible - the cords are frayed, the slats do not line up and someone will eventually be blamed for breaking them. The communication with Vacasa was pathetic. I had to call them to get information on the property which they could not provide. I had to make an unnecessary trip back into Tillamook just to purchase coffee because they have a regular coffee make not a Keurig like we use at home. Vacasa said they would call me back with all my questions answered before 5PM the night before we departed. They never called but sent me an email on Friday - 2 days later. As for cleanliness, we found dirty dishes (could be an oversight or just a failing dishwasher) and old food under the edges of the Maytag cook top on the island. The photos of the property are deceiving. It is a small and cozy place to stay. Pay attention to the "step-up" because you can easily forget (especially in the dark). Aside from all the issues, the house is a lovely getaway, however I feel that the nightly costs, the cleaning fees and other associated fees and taxes were not worth it. I overpaid and could have stayed in a hotel on the beach for less money with less problems. Will I rent this place again. Probably not, between all the inconveniences the poor communication from Vacasa, having to deal with two agencies, the burning coffee, my son falling down the "step-up" in the power outage we had, there is only one access road and no cell service in Cape Meares. Again, a nice place across the road from the beach but not without issues. Thanks
Perfectly remodeled beach cottage right across from a wide, flat beach with very few people around. Bring your meals with you because there is no services in Cape Meares, but also be prepared to relax, enjoy the view and the sounds of the ocean and sea birds. Great walking trains near by and endless views. Loved this place and wanted to stay longer.
This property is a great place to unwind. Itâs about 10 minutes from
Tillamook and the beach is literally out your back door. Itâs nicely decorated and there are lots of cozy blankets to use while on the couch looking at those amazing views. A few tiny suggestions for the future: the lockbox is on the deck railing behind you when facing the front door. It took us a minute to find. We were focused on the front and back doors first. The house also takes a while to heat and we didnât discover the remote to turn on the wall unit heater in the dining room until a few hours in. Both of these could be fixed with more detailed notes in the check-in email as we missed it if there was a house book. Cell signal was weak in the area with Verizon but I used Skype on their wifi to get a few calls made. Comfy bed and great natural light. Weâd gladly stay again if we wanted to unwind and get away from civilization. The neighbor was nice too.
Great location, great house, despite being *a bit* cold indoors.
We had a fantastic time at this property and have almost** no complaints... VERY easy access to the beach which was very quiet and beautiful. The house was clean, had all the kitchen cookware we needed, spectacular views, and had a great feel to it overall. **ONLY complaint- when we arrived (2nd week in February and stormy/cold) the house was very very cold. 48 degrees to be exact. It took over 18 hours for the wall unit heater + wood burning stove to get the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathrooms back up to a temperature where we didn't need to wear a hoodie or a jacket to be comfortable. The instructions on the check out say to leave the thermostat at 55 degrees, however, either the cleaning crew or the previous renters didn't heed that and about 1/3-1/2 of our stay was a bit uncomfortable, temperature wise. A bundle of firewood would've been an appreciated welcome to the cold, however, there was one log and not much more. With that being said, once the house got back up to reasonable temps, everything was great. Highly recommend and hope to get back here at some point in the summer.
The fact the carport, which sits underneath the living room and bedroom, had at least 5 inches of water with firewood floating in it, we were concerned about airborne spores and mold inside. The house was difficult to heat with just a wall unit up high on the wall. There is a wood stove but having to wade through ankle deep sitting water to get to firewood was a total turnoff. The house itself was clean and kitchen well equipped but we found the floor in the ensuite bathroom was mushy as if wet underneath. The street access to the house was under water as well, which we understand is not the owner's fault but we also realize, If we hadn't been in a high clearance car, we may not have made it through. Sadly, even though the view is lovely and the beach is long and quiet, we won't be renting again out of a fear of fungus and mold.
