Quiet residential area. Good facilities. Underground in 2 directions. You need a map on your phone as the roads meander, but this is one of the joys of Tokyo, getting lost and finding new things. Kevin communicated throughout.
We stayed in this house for a week - 5 people. The host did the homework for us and mailed us a number of pertinent videos, from how to get a Suica card to exactly how to get to his house. The house itself is next to a large sakura, in the middle of a middle-class quiet non-touristic neighborhood, 5 minutes by foot from a seibu line station. From there it is around 25 mins or less by train to the Tokyo, Ueno, Shibuya, Shinjuku or Shinagawa stations; ikebukuro is 5 mins away. The house has everything we needed: kitchen with microwave and fridge, tv, heating and air conditioning, washer, and very clean. There are 2 convenience stores a block away and many eateries on the way to the train station. The check-in time is until 9:00 pm but the entry key is in a lock box, so I think that the check-in time is for consideration to the neighbors; it might be possible to check-in later if the host approves. The host, Kevin, was great; communication in English, very responsive, and very helpful before and during our stay. We were very happy with our experience in this house.
Everything was perfect. The host was super nice and helpful, everything was clean and it's really only a short trip to Ikebukuro Station. All in all I'd definitely book again!
Spacious, Peaceful and Well-Appointed Tokyo Rental
Here are the things we liked about the rental:1. Short walk to the Higashi-Nagasaki train station. From there, access to many destinations was very easy.2. Quiet neighborhood near groceries and restaurants.3. Spacious-- my sister was able to take her online classes with ease while my son and I rested.4. Well-equipped-- we used the kitchen for quick breakfast meals and late dinners.5. Kevin, the owner, is very responsive and easy to communicate with!We highly recommend this rental to anyone seeking a cozy home away from home in Tokyo. Please remember to honor the peaceful nature of the neighborhood and follow the local guidelines for trash disposal and recycling, which help maintain Japan's pristine environment!
Enjoyed our two week stay in a lovely quiet neighborhood. A few stops away from Ikebukuro which gives you easy access to the rest of Tokyo. House was spacious by Japanese standards for a family of 3 and well furnished.
We spent 5 nights here. It is a little outside the city center (30 mins by train), but you cannot do better for accommodations. Very quiet neighborhood but near train, stores and local restaurants (which are excellent â check out Mr. Kumars for great Indian food). Kevin, the host, was always in communication and great to work with.
Kevinâs house was a nice place for our family of five. Our sons (ages 24 and 17) had their own spacious room in the basement and our daughter (22) slept in the tatami room. We had enough spaceâŠwhich is rare in TokyoâŠand we enjoyed having a quieter neighborhood to come home to after a busy day of sightseeing.
The kitchen was well-stocked and we did cook breakfast everyday. For hungry kids, we went to the nearby 7/11 for onigiri (triangular seaweed wrapped rice and meat), sushi and other food. We enjoyed some of the local restaurants. Yurikuku 55 is really yummy, where you grill your own meat at the table, Mia Mia Tokyo Coffee Shop, a Yakitori place and othersâŠjust walk around and try them outđ
Back to the houseâŠI was a little worried that one toilet might be a problem, but it wasnât. We brushed teeth in the kitchen and the separate shower room was also helpful.
As far as transportation goes, we took a van both ways from and to the airport. With five people and all of our luggage, it wouldâve been VERY difficult to take the train. On a daily basis, the trains were great. We did find that the house is a bit far from the main areas, so we just had to allow extra time for travel. Taking a Mt Fuji day trip gave us a break from the trains and it was fun to be driven around and to stop in some small towns along the way. All in all, a very good stay for our family in Tokyođ
My family stayed here in Oct 2024 and were very happy to have this as our first stop on our multi-country vacation. Great location about a 5-minute walk from the convenient Higashi-Nagaski station, only 2 stops from bustling Ikebukuro, and within 30mins of Shinuku, Harajuku, and Shibuya. Extremely convenient location if you don't mind adding a few extra steps to your step-counter during your visit to Tokyo.
Lots of great shops and eateries nearby, and walking to the local 7-11 a minute away is something the kids loved doing every morning. Good information and communication with the owner made this an excellent first stop on our multi-country vacation. Check in was very easy, and the house manual was filled with great information and recommendations.
The highlight of the house was the tatami room, which the kids enjoyed as their first experience with traditional Japan. The house overall felt very welcoming to come home to after busy days exploring the city.
The neighborhood is quiet and residential so we did our best to respect the neighbors and family-centric vibe around the house. Quiet morning walks makes it easy to forget the size of the city you're in.
We provided feedback to the owner on a couple of minor cleaning items; however these didn't overly impact our stay, and the owner handled them right away which speaks to their dedication to future guests. Would definitely recommend when visiting the area, and will recommend to friends also.
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely house in a quiet and relaxing neighborhoud with local restaurants and 24h shops closeby. It offers a lot of space for Tokyo and is equipped with everything you need. You can easily explore the vivid city from here by train. Easy and fast communication with the host. We can highly recommend this place
