Utarube Campground operated by Towada City is located on the eastern shore of Lake Towada within the TowadaHachimantai National Park surrounded by deciduous broadleaf trees such as beech oak and maple

The campground is surrounded by trees creating a bright forestlike atmosphere The eastern side of the campground faces Lake Towada allowing visitors to enjoy canoeing and standup paddleboarding from the site Nearby attractions include the Yasumiya area with its Statue of the Maiden and the Oirase Gorge making it an ideal base for planning trips


Open fires are strictly prohibited on the campground but fire pits are available for rent at the management building Firewood charcoal firelighters and lighters are also sold so you can enjoy a bonfire without bringing your own equipment

Five star staff, location, and facilities

Five star staff, location, and facilities. One lesson learned: there is a kitchen in the cabins and grills in the pavilion, but the few restaurants and stores around the lake are expensive and/or close early. Bring food!
