This was a highlight of my trip to Japan. The Kinosaki Onsen is a jewel and worth the effort to visit. And staying at Sumihei Bettei Tokitotoki was pure joy. The staff could not have been nicer. The location was ideal... and at every turn, there was someone there to help us learn about the town, navigating the spa houses and making sure we had a snack or beverage if we ever needed it. This place is a magical gem and well-worth every penny.

Perfect Ryokan

This is a wonderful Ryokan. The staff are lovely and the facilities are great. This is a relaxing small Ryokan with great food and we found it to be the highlight of our trip so far, wishing we stayed two nights instead of just one. The dinner was absolutely delicious and though it was a lot of food we loved every course. The private Onsenji were clean and had great soaps and shampoos. This place is a luxurious and relaxing spot that would be a great option for anyone visiting Kinosaki Onsen.

We had the opportunity to stay at this onsen hotel and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The buffet dinner was a highlight — beautifully presented and offering a wide variety of dishes that felt like something out of a Michelin-star restaurant. It was a real treat to enjoy both gourmet cuisine and local delicacies in one meal. The bar was another pleasant surprise, with a great selection of local cocktails and drinks that added a special touch to the evening. Of course, the hot spring spa was everything we hoped for — relaxing, clean, and the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. Overall, this was a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable stay. I read the reviews from this stay and was expecting much more. The rooms were tiny, the meals were good but not exceptional compared to kaiseki we had during our stay in Hakone. The staff was nice and the little treats/cakes were good but overall we were disappointed. Also there is no shower in the room because you are expected to use the bath houses.
