The City Roost was the perfect walking distance to downtown. It had everything we needed and was as described. We had a great stay and will for sure be back to see Traverse City again.
We were aware of the 18â slant in the floorâŠ. However, it did affect us a little especially getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. We had no problem with the stairs. We did enjoy the balcony at the end of our evening. We asked in advance (because of a doctorâs appointment) if we could park at noon and they did accommodate, which was much appreciated. We actually didnât even return to the apartment until about seven that evening beautiful area and a great walk to downtown.Husbandâs doctor recommended Towne Plaza for breakfast âŠ. Eclectic and delicious.Getaways are what you make itâŒ
TV not available. They had a cable connected to the wall, but it didnât reach the TV. Roku hooked up although no instructions on how to get it to work. Spent an hour trying to get the TV to work so we could watch a college game. No luck! Refrigerator tiny. Should have a taller refrigerator that includes a freezer. We stayed for three days and brought items that had to stay frozen. Had to keep purchasing ice to keep it cold as best as possible. Costco has small refrigerator freezers that would align with this property. Instead, they purchased a refrigerator that fits in a dorm room. The floor is extremely slanted, understanding that itâs an old house. The bedroom area had a foam bed which now I understand why. You sink in so you donât roll. The bathroom has a very tiny sink with extremely low water pressure. The shower wasnât clean very well because I had hair left in it from the previous renters. Had to wipe out the shower before I could shower. The shower has two knobs for hot and cold water. I would recommend changing this to one handle so you can adjust water levels accordingly. I had to keep turning the hot water knob and the cold water knob to get it to be regulated. This property is not recommended for older adults. 20 or 30-year-oldâs only! The only positive thing was the outdoor porch. Very relaxing.
Clean and close to town, however the structure of the entire apartment is tilted and drops about 10 inches and is a trip hazard throughout. So much that it was difficult to sleep as my body was working not to roll all night. We decided to check out after the first night instead of staying the 3 we had booked.
Loved the City Roost. I grew up two blocks north of the Roost on Washington Street. Back in the late 60s and early 70s the first floor was a meat market and store where we got pop and junk food.
During our stay, we have coffee or cocktails on the balcony and reminisce about those days
You can't deny the location is great. The unit not so much. Nothing in the house is level. The shower is so small, a toddler would barely fit. The shower head was terrible and I did call and ask Troy to replace it and he did. Troy and the location are great. I spent most of my time out and away from the unit, because it is so uncomfortable to walk around in it. I will not stay again and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Walking distance to front street through nice neighborhood. We drove to beach. Cute town with nice stores and places to eat. Fun for families or couples
Loved the location! Walking distance to Front St, the waterfront both on the bay and to an awesome 4 mile walking trail around Boardman Lake. Definitely an older building, but knew this going in because of the amazing details given ahead of time. Inside the apartment was a really cool industrial meets farmhouse meets old historical vibe. Property management was prompt with all communication. Great for our wine weekend stay!
Not newly remodeled & plush like the website says.
I was expecting an old house that had been updated. This was an old house with extremely stained carpet on the steps, a chipped and broken door to get in and overall dingy hall and outside.
The room was just as pictured which is what we were expecting. The 18 inch slope was also expected. The smell of the condo was unexpected and smelled of old laundry. They replace all of our towels because of the smell but the replacements also stunk like theyâd not been laundered. The sheets also smelled like sour laundry. We ended up buying our own towels because it was so smelly.
Location was good and easy to walk to downtown.
The City Roost is amazing! I will definitely be staying here again next time I am back in Traverse City. The room was clean and in a great location with walking distance to everything in downtown.
Itâs ok ⊠I wouldnât stay here again, very noisy (traffic). The bathroom is SUPER tiny. The floors are very uneven. The bed was very comfy and it is within walking distance to downtown so that is good.
It's kindof a funky space, but they've made the most of it. Very clean, comfortable. Walking distance to DT Traverse City and the lake through a nice neighborhood with beautiful historical houses.
