Wonderful getaway

Beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood. Great location to town and walking trails. The house had everything we needed to cook and BBQ. The fenced backyard was a bonus and made it easy for traveling with our dog.Easy communication with the owners. Would definitely recommend and stay again. We had a restful getaway.

New favorite getaway spot!

We absolutely loved our time in this beautiful home. Inside, the house is cute, comfortable, extremely well appointed, and has everything you could need, including a great kitchen, comfortable beds and even a fantastic shower for the master bedroom Outside, the backyard is spectacular: big, enclosed, grassy, with a beautiful fire pit and dining area. We had a ton of fun playing darts and ping-pong, while the dog basked in the green grass. We walked into town a couple of times, which was a lovely stroll. Excellent location. We can’t wait to stay here again.

Beautiful, comfortable and stylish home

Our stay at Shelly's gorgeous home in Truckee was fantastic. Shelly is a fantastic communicator. Check-in was a breeze and there are easy to follow instructions for everything in the home. The kitchen is very well designed and it was easy to cook in. The home is well appointed and has an artistic flair to it. It was super clean. We felt very much at home. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Perfect summer getaway

Lovely Stay

We very much enjoyed our stay! The house was just as pictured, very well stocked with all we needed (and we cooked a lot!), and Shelly and Todd were great hosts. We had one slight problem with a hive of yellow jackets on the back deck when we arrived and Shelly responded within minutes and had someone come out to take care of it within 90 minutes. We so appreciated how quickly and efficiently she took care of things from afar! I'd highly recommend a stay here.

Very cozy and relaxing stay

We genuinely enjoyed our stay at Shelly’s house. The house was much better than the pictures and our stay was so cozy and relaxing, we were definitely very grateful to be able to spend several nights there. The backyard was amazing and our pup really enjoyed spending the time there, as well as us. The neighborhood is so friendly and enjoyable for walking our pup, I got to meet some of the neighbors who greeted us, so kind of them… one of them had the “little Truckee ice creamery” truck which is our favorite ice cream in the area :-). We can’t wait to go back and spend more time at Shelly’s house and thank you so very much again Shelly and Todd.

Family Event

The house was perfect for our group of 3 couples. All beds were super comfortable, even the Murphy bed we slept on. Good sized great room and dining table were perfect for NYE dining and our son's proposal to his (now) fiance! Very well equipped kitchen and pantry items made it easy to cook full meals w/ ease. Host Shelley was an excellent communicator She alerted me to a small glitch the day of our arrival but mobilized a contractor to take care of the big issue (toilet) and we had no issues at all with it. She also had a work-around for the balky front door lock. Although we didn't have snow until day of departure, the super smart mudroom made shedding coats and shoes easy and warm (it's heated!!). It was really a great stay in a quiet, lovely neighborhood and walkable to downtown which a number of us took advantage of.

Wonderful winter home!

Husband, dog & I spent 2.5 glorious days here. As far as attention to detail, these owners did it right. The home has everything you'll need! It is clean & so comfortable! Amazing location--close to town, restaurants & hiking paths. The fenced yards are great & our dog Max loved romping around in the snow. NOTE to potential renters: the owners have a Nest thermostat connected to their WIFI so they're in charge of the heat. You can override the settings temporarily. We didn't fully understand this until a day1/2 into our stay. It was very cold in Truckee & we prefer a 68–70-degree home. We noted when we'd set the thermostat to 70 in a few hours it was back to 55-60. I texted the owner to ask about this & she thought it strange this was happening. We went & bought a space heater so we'd have consistent heat. We were gone for a couple of hours our first day & came home to a 55-degree home. Texted owner again. She said she'd get her husband on it. Learned the owners have the thermostat reset to 60-65 degrees during the day since people go out & leave the thermostat on as they're enjoying their day. We were blown away to learn that the owners were controlling our comfort level. We can't be sure but we figure our rent covered the 2.5 days of heat we used. It wasn't until Sunday morning that we were promised 70-degree consistent heat until our departure on Monday. Perfect! Again, such a wonderful place to stay as long as you let the owners know your heating preferences.

August Truckee Visit

The highlight of our stay was the backyard. We enjoyed sitting outside and visiting with our family, watching the dogs play and just quietly reading. The kitchen was wonderful, and we cooked in each evening. The neighborhood was quiet, friendly and we walked in the evening. We appreciated how clean the home was and the comfortable beds were a welcome site each night. If you are looking for a feeling of being at home while on vacation, this rental and location will meet your needs. Thank you for making our visit to see our friends and family so memorable.

Wonderful house and close to town

The house was perfect for us. Very cute rustic chic decor. We loved sitting out by the fire pit and enjoying the stars. Most rentals have very few cooking utensils and seasonings for cooking, but this house is the exception. It had everything we needed to make a meal. The host was very helpful and gave us lots of recommendations of things to do.

Perfect Vacation Home

This home is not only beautifully decorated, but also includes all the comforts of home plus an amazing yard. It is located very close to town which was so convenient. House has it all!

This was one of our best VRBO experiences. The house is well appointed with a kitchen that has it all. Not only does the host have coffee filters, but they also supply the coffee, olive oil, kosher salt and all of the pans and appliances you might need. :) Seriously, the host thought of everything when setting up the house for guests. We visited during the winter during a big snowstorm and they even dug out a path around the backyard and to the fire pit. Such a cute house with a ton of personality.

December Skiing and Snowboarding Trip to Truckee

This three-bedroom house was conveniently located in a residential neighborhood close to the Northstar ski resort. Although a large snowstorm had preceded out trip, it was no problem to drive to the house and get in and out of the neighborhood. The driveway had been plowed and was wide enough for multiple vehicles. The owner had dug out a path around the covered back porch so we could easily let our dogs out and let them play in the snow. This property is an ideal vacation spot winter or summer.

Great Visit!

We so enjoyed our stay at Ponderosa Palisades! We probably spent more time in the WONDERFUL (fenced in) backyard than in the house. We ate our meals on the deck each evening, played darts and ping pong and relaxed in the seating areas. The house is also wonderful. The decor is SO charming and comfortable the layout worked well for us. Well- stocked kitchen! (We ate in most nights.) We were there to visit with family and had a wide range of ages (32 - 87) so we did not explore as much as some might. But we LOVED renting e bikes just down the street and cruised around on those. (Traded them in for mountain e bikes one day for an awesome bike ride along the rim above Donner Lake.) Went to Tahoe a few times, enjoyed downtown Truckee, loved the Legacy Trail. The location was great for all that we did. Shelly was super responsive and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

It felt like staying at a friend's home

We had a lovely stay. The home was so well stocked it felt like we were staying at a friend's home. There were tons of games (indoor and outdoor). The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and more. The location was great for hanging in downtown Truckee. We mostly biked and barely used our car to get around town. The wifi speed was super fast which is always great when traveling with teenagers. Thanks for a great end of summer vacay.

Perfect getaway in Truckee CA

This Truckee home was ideal for our family of 4 adults and 2 dogs. The house was charmingly appointed and full of personality, nice touches to make us feel at home. The front and back yards were fenced and fun for both dogs and humans to play in. We can't wait to come back!

The PERFECT house for us!

I could write a very long review but I'll try to keep this brief. How did we love this house? Let me count the ways! - Shelly is an AMAZING host. The best I have ever encountered. Communication was quick and easy. She was very responsive and super helpful with a bunch of proactive recommendations. She was very friendly and very reasonably flexible. - The house is close to town in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. - There is a beautiful enclosed front and back yard. That was super important to us because of our dogs and she allowed us to have two dogs which many houses don't. - The house is very nicely furnished and very comfortable. You feel like you're staying in a good friend's house., not a rental. - The kitchen is very well stocked with anything you could possibly need including every possible appliance. - The backyard is SUPER nice. There is a nice dining table on the deck just off the living room. There is a beautiful sitting area with multiple couches, a BBQ and a firepit. - Do you like games? We played a lot of darts, ping pong and cornhole. There's more stuff we never got to. I'm sure I've missed something but I would highly recommend this home! Enjoy!

Our best stay in 10 years (decor, kitchen, yard)

One of a kind custom decorated property that delights on every front. Beautiful fenced front and (oversized) back yards. House and yard has been customized with repurposed/reclaimed wood and metal materials with love and care. Kitchen is VERY well stocked with professional stove/range, quality chefs knives, instapot, vitamix, high end microwave etc. Back yard great for bbq, family dinners, darts, ping ping, s’mores roasting, and relaxing in the sweet mountain air. Interior space is smaller than some other places we have stayed but the total experience with the front and back yards is like no other. Host was responsive and warm.
