This was a weekend get away for me and my adult sons. I had spent a lot of time in WV (mostly caving) when I was in my 20's like them and love the area.
We had a wonderful time and the Bear Valley Cabin was our home away from home. The house had everything we needed including a grill for our foil packs and steaks, a fire pit to sit around at night as well as the chairs with oil lamp to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds in the morning and evening. The beds and furniture were very clean and comfortable. I love to cook and I had everything I needed in the kitchen.
I was in the area for work, so I didn't get to see many of the sites (other than the worksite), but this really suited my needs. I don't care for the hustle and bustle of hotels and I am very tired of "eating out". Here, I had a kitchen and everything else a person needs without all the road noise and people. The owners were great, very friendly. I only got to see them once, but it was a good to meet them. I really enjoyed having the gas grill right outside of the door and was eventually able to make friends with the dog. I did miss having a window to see how late it was getting. Nighttime kept sneaking up on me. If you're traveling for business and appreciate the quiet, it's a very nice little set up. Next time I head up that way for work I will definitely see if they'll have me again. I enjoyed the stay and had all the amenities I needed to relax after a hard day on the mountain.
