Overall, we had a very nice time. The house was immaculately clean, and the neighborhood was quiet. This was our first trip to Wisconsin so everything was a new experience for us. We were disappointed that even in August several things were closed, but of course that has nothing to do with the owners of our rental.
The owners have done a nice job of updating the house—both bathrooms have beautiful tile, and the refinished hardwood floors are charming. We also really liked the soothing paint colors. We didn't use the upstairs shower, as the light fixture was broken and a desk lamp was being used in that space instead (concerned about fire hazard).
There are a few things that could have made the stay even better. While we never do elaborate cooking on a vacation, there were quite a few basic things that were missing, including a stock pot for making pasta, a vegetable peeler, measuring cups and spoons, ice cream scoop, and dish drainer.
The main bedroom could use small tables on either side of the bed, particularly for those of us who require glasses and need a spot to keep them safe at night.
While the front porch was wonderful, the backyard was a disappointment. There was a table and chairs in the yard, but all were so filthy that we couldn't eat outside. I know it is work to keep a set like that clean (this needed a good power washing), so honestly it would be better not to provide if that is too much maintenance.
