We booked this cottage for our familyâs annual beach getaway, and werenât disappointed. The location is great, off a tiny gravel side street and close to restaurants and shops and of course the beach. The house is spacious, comfortable and well-decorated. Note that this is an OLD HOUSE. When we arrived there was a deep musty smell that concerned us, but we were able to air it out quickly with air fresheners and candles. The doors donât all close flush (as other guests have noted) and thereâs some general wear and tear , mainly on the screened-in porch. None of this bothered us â except the musty smell, which was only temporaryâ but if youâre looking for a super modern place rather than quaint charm then this probably isnât the best property for you. Itâs also in a very natural area , so if you donât like bugs you might also want to think twice- esp if youâre visiting in the heart of summer like we did. The pool was amazing, especially since we visited during the hottest month and sometimes it was too hot for even the beach. The house is walkable to a small strip of shops restaurants and ice cream stands , as well as a beautiful fishing pier. Itâs accessible to all the Tybee beaches , so if youâre in the mood for quiet, busy, or bustling beaches youâre not too far from any of those options.
