Cozy house with dog friendly neighborhood

Quiet neighborhood with excellent views of Elk mountain. We could walk dogs approximately 1/2 mile loop around the lake. The house is very clean with comfortable furnishings and we enjoyed a wood stove fire that was perfect after a day on the slopes. I would love to enjoy the wrap around porch and fire pit in the summer months sometime in the future. Host is extremely responsive and we felt welcomed

Wonderful family birthday weekend

I booked this property for a birthday weekend for my adult children and I. I wanted a house close to a lake and also hiking, and this was perfect! The home had everything we needed to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and have a great stay. The fishing was excellent and the sup was used by everyone! We met lovely people at the beach and ended each day at the firepit. The property was pet friendly, and there were even dog treats for us upon arrival! I would recommend this property for its location, excellent communication with the owners, and amenities. Wonderful stay and amazing memories! firepit. The owners knew stay.

Family Getaway

We had a family get away for 8 of us. The place was perfect in size. Very nice, clean, good location. Our Golden Retriever loved swimming in the lake fetching sticks. We all just had a fun time connecting with each other , playing cards and board games and eating smores at night by the fire. Great vacation :)

Close to Elk Mountain, Lots of Rules, Cheap on TP

Our family booked this cottage due to its proximity to Elk Mountain for a ski vacation. The check-in process was efficient. It's important to note that a number of house rules are communicated via email a few days prior to check-in. (A few of those are rules posted at end of review.) While our family did enjoy the property, we were constantly aware of their rules. We brought slippers for all of us to wear, we always utilized the garage for our wet ski equipment, and we were constantly concerned about the TP situation - both quantity provided and squares flushed. Only 1.4 rolls of TP were supplied. More was given when we called to complain, but also the 1 roll per bathroom rule was verbally reinforced. So bring TP ... there are no stores nearby to buy some. After check-out, we received a damage charge for "ink stains" on the twin comforters. Even though it wasn't much $$, I disputed the charge -- as we didn't create the stain. Overall, the worry isn't worth the proximity, in my opinion. House Rules: 1) Outdoor Quiet Time: Begins at 10 p.m., 2) Wood Stove: Ashes must be scooped into the garbage (we did not follow - fire hazard), 3) Toilet: Do not flush wipes or fist fulls of toilet paper. 4) TP: Only one roll of TP will be provided per bathroom. 5) Hot Water: Only 2 to 3 showers then it needs AN HOUR to refill, 6) Slippers: "THIS IS A SLIPPER HOUSE." 7) Trash: Physically drive trash bags to the dumpster in the development, 8) "Our cleaners are not your maids."

Elk Mtn Lodge

Great place to stay. Cannot get any closer to Elk Mountain. Fireplace kept us warm. Beautiful home inside and out. The host left so many condiments (bottle of wine, etc.). Only downside was the strange showers & was very muddy due to the weather, not the hosts' fault of course. Dennis H

Great place to stay in the area!

We had a WONDERFUL stay at this lovely home! The owner was amazing! When we arrived there was a fantastic guide to all things in the area along with anything you needed to know about the house in a lovely notebook. The home location was perfect! We went skiing at Elk Mountain and rented our ski equipment from Guenther's ...both were less than a 8 min drive from the home! The house has all the accommodations you need for a GREAT time in the area!

Great Stay

We really enjoyed the rental. The guidebook was very helpful as well as the host. It was a quick trip to Elk Mountain. After a day of skiing, it was nice to park the car in the garage and use the wood stove. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed playing games and watching tv.

Another Great Stay

Property is perfect for a nice ski trip to Elk Mtn. Very nice accommodations just minutes from the mountain. Place is great and owners are very responsive. This is our second year in a row and it was another fantastic stay.

Perfect stay for a nearby family event

My husband and I stayed for 4 days so that we could be near family for a wedding. The home was great - comfortable furniture in the living room, the kitchen had everything we could need, and more, the beds were comfortable and the 2 bathrooms were spotless. There were a few televisions that looked amazing, but we didn't have time to take advantage of them. The host was helpful with information ahead of time so that we didn't need anything while we were there. I forgot my Kindle when we left, and he quickly offered to send it to me - it was much appreciated! The area nearby is beautiful - scenic countryside that is great for biking, and Elk Mountain for hiking (or skiing in season). There is a great rail trail that we accessed from Cables General Store in Uniondale. Cables had seating outside near a waterfall and the trail, and had amazing gourmet quiche, sandwiches and snacks. This home was just the right combination for us to have lots of time outdoors and a quiet place to be near family.

Awesome Pet Friendly Family Getaway Near Elk Mtn

This was perhaps our best VRBO stay - we travel often with our dogs and the hosts have made this a perfect pet friendly getaway. It would be an excellent rental for family and friends all year round. We cannot wait to return!

Great house with everything we needed!

We had 5 adults in our party to attend a family reunion in town. The house is cozy and cute with everything you need. Great cabin feel to it. The lake with the view of the mountain is great. 11 minute drive to Elk Mountain which we hiked twice. Would definitely come back!

Property was very clean, beautifully furnished with everything we needed for our stay. Community was very peaceful with various types of wildlife! The views of Elk Mt while fishing were beautiful. We caught several large mouth bass! We will definitely rent this property again! The property manager/owners were very friendly and responded quickly if we had a question!

Great Ski Getaway

The home was great and super convenient to Elk Mountain. Very cozy but plenty of room for the entire group. All necessities (and extras) were included to make the stay enjoyable. Owner was very responsive to any questions. Overall, a great home just minutes from the mountain.

Nice home away from home

We were happy with our 28-day stay in this newly-renovated, 2 bedroom home. The furniture and appliances are all high-quality, and the home is tastefully decorated. There are large flatscreen tvs in both bedrooms, the living area and even one on the back screened-in porch! The kitchen was nicely equipped with good cookware, dishes, glasses, serving dishes, etc. We appreciated the bottle of wine, can of coffee, paper towels, napkins, dish detergent, laundry detergent and other amenities supplied. Games and puzzles, beach towels were also on hand. Everything in the house was immaculate except for the floors in the living area, which looked clean but left our bare feet absolutely filthy. The owner did not return our call, asking him to supply us with a wet mop to clean it, This is the only reason we gave 4 stars for cleanliness and communication. We were completely satisfied otherwise. One caveat is necessary for people with back issues. The mattresses in both bedrooms are EXTREMELY soft, thick foam mattresses but do not offer the support of a hybrid or spring mattress. I suspect that they are high-quality, as everything else in the home, but it was like trying to sleep on a marshmallow! If you love a soft mattress, this is the place for you. However, all 3 of our party had back pains after 1 night, and 1 member had to sleep on the sofa for the entire stay. This would be the only reason we would not rebook for this particular location.

Great winter getaway!

We had a wonderful time staying at this house! We didn’t get to explore the area and ski resort as much as we wanted to due to a storm (the area is beautiful when covered in snow), so it was even more amazing that the place was a great place to hang out. Everything was very clean and comfy and cozy! Communication with the hosts was easy! We hope to check it out in the summer as well :)

Amazing stay with everything we needed

The accommodation was even better than it looked like on the internet. Normally renting houses like these are disappointing, but this house definitely exceeded my expectations. The host was very quick and responsive. He even left us some welcome gifts, very much appreciated! We had an amazing stay and would come back any time. Would definitely recommend!
