This is a very cool historic property. Checked in by the owner and I'm guessing he's pretty busy with all the other stuff associated with running a historic property. We stayed in the golf room and it was nicely decorated and very comfortable. 11/10 would recommend. A little out of the way but well worth the detour off the interstate.
This place is not for everyone. Few amenities one would expect. Huge historic building with many antiques but lack of cleanliness and order. Wondered if it was up to code for fire safety. Not handicap accessible. There was an elevator inside which helped a lot but you are not near your room. Window ac was adequate. This place is a gem and could be absolutely amazing given some attention. If youâre able bodied and not too picky it is truly an experience. So much history all over - from books to antiques, a relic from the past. Peeked into the kitchen and there were dishes crusty with food from who knows how long ago (no food served, just coffee in the morning). There was an open door into a room on the second floor and inside piles of uncleaned laundry (I have photos). I was taken aback by this. Wondered who was helping the elderly gentleman around the place. There was a slight âickâ factor and a musty dirty smell. As a world traveler and able bodied Iâm open to interesting places and for my part I should have paid more attention to the description when I booked. I recommend this property be reviewed by whoever is in charge to ensure it is a safe and clean place to post on your website. Thank you
This hotel is magnificent from the outside and very comfortable and warm on the inside. Proprietor Charlie and companion (sheepdog) Rosie have faithfully renovated this 1920âs hotel in period style plus a few updates like air conditioning and WiFi. Charlie is a gracious host and is very knowledgeable about the history of the area. A great departure from the day to day.
Very charming historic hotel decorated in the period. Each room has a brief bio of persons who may have stayed there in the past. Old photos adorn the walls throughout and Charlie, the proprietor, can tell you the history of the hotel and its period pieces. We also enjoyed Rosie, the resident dog, very much. No refridgerators or microwaves in the rooms but I am sure Charlie can accomodate your needs. Mary E. June 19-22, 2025
We booked this hotel only 20 minutes before getting there, and I so wished I did not. When we got out of our car there was a dead black cat on the property. When we walked into the hotel the smell was not great. Our room looked like no one had cleaned it with an old used bar of soap. The toilet had black streaks all over it. The sink was also gross. I was in the room for 5 minutes and could not stay. We went to ask for our money back and they would not give it back. It was awful.
Cute old hotel with so much character. Rosie, the dog welcomes you. Very friendly and look forward to going back. We golfed and enjoyed the golf course and cute small town. Worth a weekend trip
Hotel and staff lacked up to date care. Dirty, dusty, lights broken, no apparrent fire escape, staff away from the desk, porch unswept, visible dirt on patio furniture, we left after one night, not staying the 2nd day. Could not get refund.0
No one at front desk to check us in. Told we didn't expect us. Dirty and dark front entry area. Room was pretty good. Rose, the dog, was well behaved but needed a bath.
This is such a unique property. Loved the nostalgic and homey feel. Did not want to leave. Thank you for showing us all the rooms and we will definately be back.
This is historical building. It is like stepping back in time. It is a homey atmosphere. I have stayed before and find the beds comfortable. I seem to sleep well at this hotel. They have a resident dog Rosie who is very friendly. She does not shed.
