Location was fantastic - secluded feel, yet five minute walk to downtown. Very spacious. Great kitchen. Lots of charm. They advertised a ping pong table, foosball table, and hot tubâŠbut the hot tub was only 82 degrees and the other two were not there anymore so that was a bummer. Overall though great place.
Aside from the main living area, the property showed its age in bedrooms and bathrooms. Grill was rusted out and the Hot Tub wouldn't go above 87F. Lots of dust and cobwebs that should be addressed. Heating system wasn't functioning when we arrived. Definitely needs some updating to be accommodating in what you would expect in Vail.
If you like having no heat and mice, then this is the place for you. It took 24 hours for property management to send someone to fix the heat which they could not because they were not a HVAC repair company. When we arrived, there was mouse poop on the kitchen counters. Property management did bring out mouse traps and we trapped and released one mouse but saw an additional mouse that emerged from the back of the stove and is possibly still living in the house. The house is extremely outdated that I would consider it a tear down at this point instead of remodeling. Shame on the owner for letting this property deteriorate. The only good thing about the house is it's close proximity to Vail Village.
Property was being painted on the outside when we checked in and parking was taken by worker which stayed until 6 pm⊠the next morning a jacuzzi maintenance guy let himself into the house without knocking or anythingâŠowners need to communicate better with property managementâŠ
Wonderful structure!
Wonderful location 1 block from downtown Vail!
Living room and kitchen were well-furnished and very comfy.
Bedrooms, bathrooms, and rec room were adequate but in desperate need of remodeling. These parts of the house were clearly built in the 1970's and not upgraded since.
Patio furniture should be thrown away and replaced immediately.
Parking in front of the house was worrisome, being on a narrow street w. two "No Parking" signs which we successfully ignored.
Note to elderly and invalid guests: Access to house is via two dozen stairsteps.
Key box access to the house didn't work. Fortunately, maids were still there when we arrived at 5 PM.
Despite all these relatively minor concerns, we had a wonderful time staying at the Ark in Vail.
If you're looking for lots of glass, granite and stainless steel, this isn't your property. If you're looking for a legendary Vail ski-in ski-out property, this is your property. If these walls could talk.
Comfortable, clean, roomy and convenient. It's all of these.
The house was so spacious and arranged so well -plenty of space for the family gathering time and plenty of room to escape to your own place when not together. The location could not have been more perfect. The view was fabulous. The laundry facilities were appreciated too. Drawbacks were things in need of repair- non-working second microwave in kitchen taking up needed counter space, broken hand mixer not working and deck furniture in bad repair. Some of the throw pillows were stained or dirty and the kitchen cupboards really need updating. Also it would have been good to know from the beginning the parking arrangements - on street parking- before we arrived.
