Charming small hotel with a lovely little courtyard and period furniture. Friendly service. Small but clean rooms with tiny bathrooms. A/C blows directly on the bed, which is otherwise quite comfy. The restaurant was mediocre with friendly but poor service.

Very nice place to stay.

The hotel was clean throughout, from the sidewalk all the way to the room. The staff was courteous, and helpful. Although clean, the room was a bit cramped, but knowing the building’s age, that was understandable.

This is a nice, historic hotel in a very small town. The rooms were nice and quiet. On-site restaurant had outstanding food at a reasonable price. The included breakfast was good, not great. We would stay here again.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Hotel El Capitan. Parking was a breeze, plenty of space and just steps from the entrance. Inside, the place is full of history and charm, from the architecture to the decor. It’s one of those hotels where you can feel the past still alive in the walls, but everything is comfortable and welcoming. The bar and restaurant were excellent. I ordered the pistachio chicken fried steak, which was as unique as it was delicious, and the limoncello margarita was one of the best cocktails I’ve had anywhere in West Texas. Both were reasons alone to come back. My room overlooked the front of the hotel with a beautiful view of the mountains. It was peaceful, and at night, I opened the balcony doors to the courtyard, cool air drifting in while the sound of the fountain made it easy to relax and fall asleep. It was a memorable stay from start to finish. The Hotel El Capitan is a real gem, and I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m heading out to my property.

Van Horn is a halfway stop between Ft Worth and Phoenix. We always stay at the El Capitan. Wonderful small hotel with Spanish decor. Rooms and the hotel are very clean. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Love the restaurant. Great food.

We were very impressed with the quality of the renovation work. The hotel is truly beautiful. No cheap furnishings here, lovely furniture and linens. The courtyard is gorgeous ~ lush and tropical feeling. I did love it. The one place we were disappointed in was the dining room. We expected a more elegant ambiance befitting the rest of the hotel. The food was average good, not great. Breakfast offerings were plenty but not impressive. I’d rather have fewer offerings and more natural foods. Powdered scrambled eggs, really?? Nevertheless less we would love to stay there again.

Beautiful nostalgic hotel with Spanish decor. The place is quaint and very clean. Room was very nice. The food options at the onsite restaurant are awesome. The menu is very diverse. Loved it.
