I truly wanted to have compassion and sympathy for the host, as she shared she was dealing with a family emergency and her husband’s illness. Unfortunately, the experience at this property was highly disappointing and stressful.When we arrived in Vancouver, we waited at the airport for 4 hours for check-in details because the host did not have time to send me the information. Yet, two days before checkout, she made sure to remind me that we had to be out by 10AM. This kind of behavior shows she is all about herself and not focused on her guests’ experience.The property itself had issues from the start. There was a strong, unpleasant smell like a toilet or basement overflow. The Wi-Fi didn’t work until the host later stopped by and provided the correct login, casually mentioning she had “forgotten to update” the check-in booklet. When we ran out of paper towels (there were only 2 sheets when we arrived), she replied two days later to say there might be more in a closet — there weren’t.We ended up moving to a hotel for the last part of our trip just to be comfortable. I had actually found a better listing a week after booking this one and had considered canceling within the “30 days free cancellation” period stated in the listing.
