Amazing place - cleanliness was a challenge - BRMR were great
Loved our stay here. Location and the house are fantastic. The views are stunning and the house is beautiful. We had some challenges with the cleanliness of the house, but, in fairness to BRMR, they offered to send a cleaning team out after we sent photos of how much hair there was. Our stay was only for a few nights and the dog hair was covering so much that we just took care of it ourselves. Be mindful, It is pet friendly and they charge extra for cleaning fees (we were thinking of taking our dog but didnât in the end). The house, however, was covered in dog hair - even the kitchen countertops and table. Considering their cleaning fees both standard and pet fees it was shocking how much we had to vacuum. Other than the cleaning issues, the stay was fab and the house was excellent.
The house is in a very nice area. Very close to both downtown Bonnie and Blowing Rock. I would definitely stay here again. My only concerns are the step from the dining room area to the living space is not to code. There should be a white paint stripe on top of the step. My mother-in-law fell when stepping down.Thankfully she did not get hurt. Couldâve been much worse. The beds need some attention; if you roll over they squeak. The fire pit was an amazing addition and the basement is full of fun. Other than those very few concerns we had a very pleasant time. I would recommend this home.
We were disappointed that the cabin did not seem to be properly prepared for visitors. The internet was out the entire time of our stay and we could not get the hot tub to warm up. There was no guide book for the cabin to help us. Additionally an overhead light was out and a carbon monoxide filter was flashing red needing replacement. There was a significant amount of trash placed improperly in a recycling bin and swimming trunks left over from the previous guests. We had a very rainy weekend trip with small children so not having the internet and hot tub working were a big frustration. We understand that these cabins are small family business and we were polite and understanding when we reached out for assistance to the property management. We received apologies and the promise that these items would be added to the task list but nothing ever happened. Eventually we received a phone call and I spoke with a property manager who was very nice but did not take any action. To be clear, we understand that things happen. Our disappointment stems from the fact that the property management continued to apologize and promise that future guests would not experience these problems but did not do anything to either fix the issues or to make it right with us despite the considerable amount of money we spent which made the apologies feel very insincere. In hindsight, I suppose we should have been less civil but every message we sent was polite.
