Weâve stayed in many rentals on Marthaâs Vineyard, but this was by far the most disappointing given the premium price charged. While the management team was polite, the issues we raised were simply brushed aside as âknown to the ownerâ with no plan to address them. The property itself is in serious need of investment: the downstairs TV doesnât work due to a faulty WiFi unit, the coffee maker turns on but doesnât brew, nearly every curtain rail is falling out of the wall, the air conditioning filter is visibly clogged with dirt, the kitchen bin is broken, the BBQ doesnât function, none of the outdoor lights work (even with new bulbs), and the front door has a fly net that requires being bashed open. For the rates being charged, you expect a home that is properly maintained and in working order. Instead, it feels neglected, with excuses instead of solutions. Until the owner commits to fixing these long-standing problems, this property simply cannot justify its premium price tag.
The home itself was fine overall, but there were significant issues with management/service from Vacasa. First, we were given the wrong code and the code system never worked to lock/unlock the house for the entirety of our stay. We luckily found a key in an unlocked lockbox to the front door, but it was difficult to use - you could barely get the key out of the door. In addition, when trying to set up an account with Vacasa, I kept getting an error message -- and the fact that I could not talk to a human about the issues we encountered was extremely disappointing. Getting bot generated responses to my multiple inquiries was more than frustrating! Also, the lawn was horribly overgrown with long 2 ft grass/weeds. This was not what was depicted in the photos. Luckily our children are teens, it would be very disappointing to have small children and be unable to use the yard, that's why we rent in West Tisbury! We brought some lawn games like corn hole and spikeball that we were not able to use. Even using the grill was gross with weeds everywhere -- given the tick situation on the island this was a huge miss! Other things such as running out of propane after grilling twice and having the backup tank be empty is additional evidence of sloppy and lazy management. The outside umbrella was broken and unusable and half of the chairs on the patio were missing cushions. This whole situation felt like a money grab. Stay away from Vacasa!!
As much as we tried, this property ended up being a big disappointment. First it was small things like the oven light and fan didn't work, the front door automatic PIN lock was broken (so they gave us a manual key that almost didn't work either, and the HDMI cable was almost broken off behind the TV so the TV barely worked. But then it became bigger things like the heat didn't work at all in at least two rooms. Never came on during the night. And then in two other rooms the heat never shut off. Also, the outside shower wasn't fully put together nor were the towel holders in the bathroom. And the last straw was while on my vacation I got admitted to the hospital and was checking out the morning our stay was over. I asked for a couple of hours extension to give us time to get all of our stuff out since I was just getting out and they said they had to charge me. If I were you, I would stay away from Vacasa, owner or renter. They don't take care of the properties or people very well.
The house is very homey and comfortable, complete with children's books in the bookcase, including the Penderwicks. In fact the house reminded my daughter and me of a summer retreat just like in the Penderwicks series.
Beautiful house. Could use a more comfortable couch and better sink drain.
Great time a little far away from the good beaches about a 20 min drive everywhere canât really go to lamberts cove itâs private.
Needs new couch . Screen door didnât work on deck and we fixed it. But nice decorations had all ammemities
House was very nice house and yard. An outdoor fire pit would have been nice in the cool nights. The only minor issues was that the light switches didnât make sense.
This was a very nice property and met the majority of my expectations. Everything was well-furnished and it was very comfortable (although a little tricky to figure out the heating). The setting was beautiful, but be prepared for very bumpy, dirt roads to get there! And the key box is very tricky to open and the front door is even trickier to open! I had inquired before our visit as to the type of coffee maker and if the grill would be available. Unfortunately the responses I received did not match what was there on arrival. We were able to remedy things ourselves and get reimbursed, but it was just a pain that you shouldn't have to deal with things like that when you are vacationing AND you thought ahead to inquire. Also, it may have been noted, but I did not realize that the only full bathroom connected to the master and to the opposite hallway. Not a lot of privacy. All in all, this was a nice VRBO property, had no real problems, and was a very private getaway during Covid. Our family of 3 enjoyed the Christmas week there, especially the quick access the forest trails. If we hadn't encountered some minor problems, I would definitely give this property five stars.
We had a great stay in this beautiful house! Super cute, stocked with everything you can imagine and so clean! Also loved having access to stunning Lambert's Cove beach!
Outdoor shower head did not work. Two chandeliers were on the dining room table when we arrived, fixed the next day. Getting gas for the grill was like pulling teeth. Phone contact with VACASA was more than frustrating especially in getting responses.
