We enjoyed our stay very much. It was a beautiful property with unique rooms. The staff were all very nice and our room was super clean. You get a free tasting for each of you at the winery with your stay which was a nice touch. The tavern was delicious! We were close to merchants square which had many food options. We will definitely stay again. Highly recommend!

This was a solo staycation for me. I had a wonderful experience at the Wedmore Place. It's a small hotel, which I prefer. Very good, personal service. I stayed in room 9 which was cozy with a nice view of the woods.

WOW. The Mighty have fallen. What use to be an amazing getaway and what I would say an experience, has changed tremendously. The Wedmore Place must be under new management? We arrived midweek so it wasn’t too busy. No more warm cookies or scones served in the lobby/lounge. Very disappointing with the changes in the breakfast and wine flights. Which was once an experience to be had to showcase Williamsburg Winery Wines. There once was a beautiful laid out selection of gourmet coffees. You had Assorted glass mini jars of Bonne Maman and Honey is now been replaced with plastic Smuckers. Dried out sausage and burnt quiche’s in there casserole warmer’s. The Wine flights use to be served on the wooden boards and explained. Now you’re given a card to a self serving Wine Kiosk that is barely filled with Wine or unavailable and you’re not even able to sit in the main hall. Your placed in a side room that’s uncomfortable. Then when asked to have a separate glass for Whites and Reds. We had an unpleasant woman that looked as us like we were crazy. No other foods were available for sale in their wine shop to go along with your wine tasting. Not even a water cracker or possibly charcuterie's. The parking lot has deep holes that need to be filled so be careful when parking your car. To top off our getaway. We had to listen to the headboard in the next room getting slammed into the wall by a very over zealous couple.I believe we will be canceling our upcoming July visit.

Historical but Compromised

On the plus side, the staff at the hotel's front desk and in the breakfast room were all very welcoming and helpful. The same can be said of the winery which provided a courtesy bottle of Cabernet in our hotel room along with coupons for use in their tasting room which has an interesting variety of cultivars from which to choose. However, on the minus side there were a number of issues. One of the two tub/shower doors was not operable, making entry & exit more difficult, and the shower gel bottle that was supposed to be attached to the tile had broken off prior to our arrival and was sitting in the tub in its broken bracket. The bathroom sink leaked around the cold water faucet whenever it was used, requiring a towel to be wedged around it to prevent soaking anything on the counter and running onto the floor. The bathroom exhaust fan and the light by the toilet did not work. The area rugs which are there to complement the historical charm of the property were worn and, along with the wood floors, felt unclean to bare feet. They also had nothing to prevent them from sliding underfoot and could easily pose a tripping hazard. During our 3-night stay, we killed more than a dozen flies that pestered us and seemingly continued to enter our room in spite of there being no open windows, doors or vents for them to gain entry.
