Being a child of a native-born islander I treat my visits as a birthright, a chance to learn more about my island roots. My family emigrated from the Philippines to Kauai and eventually settled in Oahu. I had never been to the Big Island so when my sister suggested we visit I said OKAY. (BTW, sheâs basically a local, having lived here for over 30 years). The stay at Lava Pond Lodge was PERRRRFECCCT! The hospitality was unmatched in our opinion, rooms and common area very comfortable and inviting. Our host for our stay was Rhonda who was the most accommodating individual ever, knowledgeable about the area and activities on the island, honestly couldnât say enough about her grace and helpfulness! The unexpected surprise was that Kilauea was in her 4th phase and we were there to see it! Nature is so amazing! The B&B is so conveniently located and if youâre a nature lover this is the place for you! We will definitely be back for more adventures on the BI, for sure!
This was a very lovely stay, very clean and close to Volcano National Park. The beds were very comfortable and there is a hot tub under the trees that we made use of! Sarah made us a nice breakfast and had some good advice, and we were able to get reservations for a ranger guided tour that took us past the "do not cross" barrier in the Kileaua caldera! The second night there was a family with a baby that woke us up early, but that could happen anywhere. Would definitely recommend!
We came for a couple of days of hiking. The location was perfect, the breakfast was delightful, and the hosts were very welcoming. Definitely recommend.
This property is located in a lush rainforest. Itâs about 1 mile to Volcano National park , a real plus!! Owner is delightful, breakfast delicious. Just a wonderful experience.
Was unable to get into B&B and unable to reach owner or housekeeper. VRBO was excellent and moved us to a hotel. Only problem was it took over 2 hours but VRBO personnel were great.
Donât look any further, stay here! This comfortable house has it all - location, a lot of extras, great hot tub and a wonderful breakfast.
This house has several rooms, some with a refrigerator. Our room didnât have one, but there was one in the hall for our use. Our host was a great chef, making a different breakfast the two mornings we were there. The spread was fabulous- coffee, tea, juice, cereal, oatmeal, an egg dish, fresh fruit and a choice of breakfast breads. We were well-prepared for the big days! We hiked a lot, so the hot tub was great respite after our day was done. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet in the house. It is set in a fern forest on a dark street - have your directions set on your phone. It is a short 5-minute drive to Volcano National Park and across the street from Volcano Village. Take your own lunch or dinner, you can use the kitchen. Really great place to stay, Iâd go again!
This beautiful property is only a few minutes drive from the volcano park, hidden in a very nice and quiet community. Sarah the owner keeps the house in very good condition and she cooks delicious breakfast for customers. We really enjoyed our 2 day stay and would definitely recommend this bnb!
