A very unique hotel in a tiny town were you feel part of the past. I arrived at 5 m when all the stores were closed and all daily visitors gone so it was a cool bit bizarre experience being on my own with the other handful of folks staying in town. The hotel was cute and comfortable though internet didnât work after 8 pm (cell reception is remarkably good), and had not come back when I left in the morning. Thereâs no TV either which for me was a plus but given the fact that thereâs not much to do after 6 pm, itâs something to consider. Bring a book!
Be aware that the room is VERY basic with good AC and a very well stocked minibar outside the room in the common hallways. The shower is a bit sad and it was hard to keep a steady temperature since it would go from very cold to very hot without touching it. I paid for breakfast but they donât serve it until 8 and I had a long day ahead so had to leave way before there was anything open for a bite. Do not add breakfast to your room if you are thinking of leaving before 8.
In summary, if you are looking for a unique experience like I was, this place is great. However, itâs not for everyone and a day visit when everything is open may be a better choice for you.
Excellent hotel highly recommend
Very clean and centrally located
Highly recommend dining at the hotel dinner was absolutely delicious !
Only criticism would be extremely poor wifi (I would say none even though the hotel says it has free wifi!)
Also very limited mobile phone reception in Walhalla
Gorgeous town worth the trip!
Staying at The Star in Walhalla was the loveliest experience. We had the best time relaxing in the old world charm of the hotel and enjoying the walks, tours, good food that Walhalla offers. Would recommend this hotel and plan to return with friends soon.
