Stocked with thoughtful touches, comfortable and convenient place to stay.
Only comment would be that the spiral staircase could be challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
The Carriage House is lovely. Comfortable in every way! It was immaculately clean! Wonderful light and an added bonus is the patio for AM coffee! As a self contained apt., it was very quiet.
Be sure to walk the neighborhood where there are hundreds of great restaurants and great places to sit and watch city life. We loved The Carriage House and will stay here anytime weâre in DCâ Loved it!!!! Thank you!
The Carriage House was lovely. It's conveniently located to many areas of DC, at the edges of a lively neighborhood but still quite quiet and peaceful inside. The place was clean and well provided for. Perfect for 1-2 people.
Worked for 2 of us, would stay again.
Great Location and parking major plus. Clean, as pictured in photos and as described.
Metro bus right outside door but it went opposite way to downtown. 5 minute walk to dinning, bars, metro train was awesome.
Bed comfy, couch and chair hard so not ideal for TV watching, reading. Wi fi good connection and Netflix..available with your own account. Trouble with getting on as previous person didnât sign off. Had two remotes and found the white remote worked for our sign on.
Street parking easily available. We parked for 5 days and didnât move our car as used metro or walked. No problem with parking except issue with application to get parking permit. Save yourself the hassle and request host to apply for the permit for you. I was told this when I contacted DOT when I had problems with their website. They directed me back to VRBO to get parking permit
Small fridge, small microwave, small toaster oven and teapot with heating element. So if you want to cook no stoveâŠfor some reason they had pots, pans and cooking utensils. ..no problem for us as we used the microwave. Note no washing machine/dryer. Which we knew from listed amenities.
Bathroom and bedroom upstairs. The winding metal staircase not ideal if you have mobility issues and have to carry heavy suitcases up.
Hosts immediately responded when texted about TV. Communication with host was usually by text. When called their number got answering machine every time.
The property is clean and tidy. A perfect space a single or a couple. 7 minute walk from the nearest metro station. Very close to most dc attractions. The spiral staircase was a little scary for me. Its sturdy but still, was not my favorite and I dont think would be suited for the elderly. The bathroom is great, a walk in and nicely sized. Very easy to get into the place with the key pad. The address is a bit confusing at first. I found a nearby address that works better for uber and food delivery. Small fridge but it worked. I was worried about the bed being a full size instead of a queen, especially since my husband and I are bigger people but it was okay. A little cramped but it wasn't a problem. Overall a good stay! The host was very responsive.
The location is PRIME for walking around the Shaw neighborhood, or catching the metro or bus service. Communication with the host was seamless and effective before and during my stay. With thoughtful and functional touches throughout, my visit felt like a home away from home. I stayed comfortably for nearly 3 weeks.
Everything was as advertised, the house was clean and well kept, it felt as if no one had ever stayed in it before. The location was also nice, the street it is on wasnât too busy and it was a short walk to the metro. Parking was a little hard to find but thankfully parking during the weekends is free. The only issues we ran into were not getting the access code emailed beforehand, but even then, the host was able to get it to us within five minutes and there was no delay in getting in. The other issue was some concern about privacy, the blinds are somewhat transparent and at night, we could see clearly into the house if the lights were on.
Very clean, up to date, and across the street from a bike share dock that we used every day. Easy walk to metro station and U St corridor. Having access to the restful outdoor space was an unexpected plus. Just wish the bed had been more comfy (too-soft mattress, bottom sheet that didn't fit, and plastic mattress pad that we ditched after 1 night.) Oh, and some dimmers for the bright lights and a small paring knife would be good too. But overall, just as advertised. Thank you.
