This house is an eclectic and fun celebration of Whitby’s heritage, with modern-day comforts. Beautifully furnished throughout to an exceptionally high standard, The Pirate’s Palace has been completely renovated, painted in Farrow and Ball colours throughout, whilst still retaining original features such as the stunning stained-glass front door panels, which greet you on your arrival, and the incredible, huge ceiling rose that adorns the living area.
Occupying the upper three floors, this property has been split in two, with The Pirate’s Palace boasting the best of the views, as you will be on the first, second, and third floors. A footpath and stone steps lead you up to the entrance, and once inside you are welcomed into your private hallway, with the staircase sweeping up before you.
Up on the first floor, you have the impressive and elegant, large living area at the front, with the most incredible views over the town. Here you can unwind on the comfortable sofas, watching the world go by, with the option of watching Sky TV (with Netflix) if you can drag your eyes away from the panorama through the large, panelled bay windows. There is also a wood burner, for those cosy, atmospheric evenings in. The stylish, modern kitchen area is finished to a high specification, with integrated units and quality appliances. This is a spacious and well-stocked kitchen, sure to delight.
Upstairs on the second floor, you have two double bedrooms, boasting the best views in the house, across the rooftops to Whitby Abbey and St. Mary’s Church, and out to sea. Both bedrooms feature Emma J Shipley furnishings. There is also a shower room with rainfall shower and a bathroom on this floor, both finished to an exceptionally high standard, to add a little touch of luxury to your stay – it’s not often you find a shower with crystal chandeliers!
At the top of the house, on the third floor, you have an additional two attic bedrooms, with beds partly under the eaves (two doubles), making this property suitable for up to eight guests in total. Each room has been lovingly furnished, with both funky retro pieces, as well as tasteful modern furnishings, adding to that unique sense of character. There is also a small chill-out area outside the two attic bedrooms. At the front of the house there is a lawned garden as well as free, on-street parking. This is a ’shoes-off’ house and spa slippers will be provided (up to approximately UK size 10). Guests are encouraged to bring their own slippers.
There is a local fish and chip shop, butchers, friendly pub (with occasional live music), and community shop, where you can buy essentials and enjoy a coffee, all within 175 yards from the property. Pack up your bathing suits, swimming trunks and towels and head straight for the glorious sands of Whitby Beach, where you can enjoy a variety of water sports including surfing and paddle boarding, or simply have a paddle. You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll along to Whitby’s Lighthouse or hook your catch of the day along the pier. Within the town you will be spoilt for choice for things to do, with panoramic views atop the 199 steps, the wonders of the Gothic Whitby Abbey, the fun-filled Dracula Experience, the picturesque Pannett Park, home to the Whitby Museum, and the Endeavour tall-ship in the harbour. No stay in Whitby is complete without a visit to one of the many award winning seafood restaurants, you can’t get fish and chips much fresher than this! End every day of your holiday in style with a stay at The Pirate’s Palace, you are sure to be delighted.
