BEWARE! The property description does not share accessibility details and requirements for an all-wheel or 4-wheel vehicle. The Owner gives no indication of the situation until she emailed check in instructions where she included the need for a shovel to navigate the road. While the cabin was clean and well equipped and the views were beautiful, getting there is a challenge. The directions and road markings are extremely poor and impossible to follow unless you have been there in daylight. The road and access are poorly marked. We had to find alternative accommodation on the first night we arrived (around 8pm).We booked for 3 couples. Two couples had to cancel because their vehicle would not make it up the dirt, rutted road. The cabin is extremely dark. I felt like I needed a flashlight to walk through the living room. Also, the Owners advertise no extra fees. But at checkout they charge cleaning, service and damage protection fees. There are many beautiful rentals in the area. I would not rent or recommend this property.
Absolutely stunning views. The cabin was comfy and cozy to have friends with other cabins come and hang out. Everything was stocked well and the cabin kept cool in the heat. The covered porch was perfect for coffee in the mornings and hiding from the occasional summer storm. Whenever a small issue arose we messaged the property managers and they had it taken care of the same day! Due to location of the cabin, the roads are steep and can be difficult to get to. But great location!
The cabin was just how it was described. The view is incredible. Being Christmas time, the host left a gingerbread house kit for the kids to make. Could not be more pleased. Thank you again.
We (two adults, two children) visited over Thanksgiving for a mountain getaway and ride on the GSMR Polar Express. Arrived and cabin was decorated for Christmas, along with two elves to keep our children occupied. We had a wonderful stay and felt right at home at Antlers Cabin. Well stocked kitchen and great sleeping arrangements. Those extra blankets were great for cold mountain nights. Awesome game room and amenities between fire pits, cornhole, darts, play set, and letâs not forget the floating deck. Spectacular views into GSMNP and very easy to get around once you leave the mountain. Antlers cabin is close to Bryson City, Whittier, Cherokee, GSMNP, and all the attractions in between.
We had a great time at the cabin, our main goal was to stay and only leave when needed like for the train ride. The only issue was with VRBO not alerting the owners of our stay. We seemed to be a surprise to them when getting there but it was quickly resolved and everything was smooth afterwards. I recommend a front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle for the last 20 feet of the driveway. Anything that is rear wheel drive will need a lot of weight in the back to get out without spinning out on the gravel. We managed to find a better way the second time leaving to keep that to a minimum fory brother rear wheel drive truck. The owner was helpful with that issue which is nice to see. We hope to enjoy the views again and
The house / cabin was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the magnificent views, morning coffee on the porch and quaint setting.
We were blessed with great weather all weekend and the family enjoyed our time together.
I do have 2 suggestions. 1. I own a Chevy traverse. Front wheel drive. I did use low gear. And I slipped just a little on the road and driveway. If it was wet⊠Iâm not sure what would have happened. My daughter has an all wheel drive vehicle. No problem. I would recommend an all wheel drive vehicle to get up the mountain road.
2. This is minor. Having some aluminum foil and
Saran Wrap available would help clean up and storing items after cooking. In general the cabin was well stocked. There was cinnamon and nutmeg in the cabinet which are my secret ingredients for pancakes!
Again. Overall. Fantastic visit. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again! Absolutely a beautiful home with beautiful views of the Smokey mountains!
We loved the seclusion of the property. The property had lots of areas to hang out. The road to the property is quite rocky and up the mountain, but itâs worth it! We enjoyed the fire pits, and all the views. Each room was large enough for couples, but adding more than 6 adults may be cramped. The beds were okay, pillows were very hard(!!), and the kitchen was well stocked. We also enjoyed all the Christmas decor and outdoor lights!
We mostly explored the surrounding area, but when back at the cabin⊠we spent most of our time outside!!! The floating deck and wood fire pit sitting area were our faves! Our kid liked the swings, slide and game room! We loved playing corn hole! Kitchen was stocked well with cooking utensils, pots/pans and dishes! The cleanliness was amazing! The views were beautiful.
This property was everything we were looking for and much more.
The views are amazing, which can be seen from the float deck, the wrap around porch above the floating deck. Many places to sit inside and outside, a propane grill and charcoal grill.
With Cherokee 15 minutes down the road, Bryson City 20 minutes, and Maggie Valley about 30 minute away and gives you plenty of options if you're looking to get away for the day or evening. We even had a taxi pick us up one night.
We are already booking our next stay! Its a must!!!
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, clean mountain cabin. So quite and peaceful. Everything was very comfortable.
It is up a very steep, one lane road so just be prepared for it. I would stay there again.
Its a well managed property. every little detail is well thought of. we had a really excellent time there. Getting there is a drive through winding roads , and your pleasant vacation/adventure begins there.
