Irritating smell of cigarettes, in a supposed nons

The parking was ok and safe. The room condition was terrible! I booked for a non-smoking room, and started coughing as soon as i checked in. Didn’t understand what was irritating my throat and I approached the receptionist but told there was no other room for me except that one. I decided to manage, but worst of all, I found a pack of cigarettes by the side of the bed the monring i was checking out and i handed this to the receptionists with my complaint. The hotel should be serious in safeguarding the health of others particularly if a guests had booked for a non-smoking room, every effort should be made to ensure that preference is respected.
