Break in Windermere

Great Hotel, ideal location for Windermere and Bowness and the Lakes in general. Helpful friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. We have stayed here before and we will be back again soon

The accommodation is in two parts on two floors. Comfortable guest house. Staff excellent. Breakfast, best we have had on our holiday. If you have mobility issures, request ground floor rooms.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Woodlands. Our room was a reasonable size and fully equipped. The bed was comfortable. There are some signs of age showing however, everything was clean and for the rate charged we felt we had excellent value. The breakfast was outstanding.

Great location and very charming

Really enjoyed our stay. Location was great in between Windermere and Bowness, easy walk to both. Lovely breakfast and charming room. Very quaint. About 15 rooms, they are not huge rooms and have a small bathroom. Only weird thing was the hotels direction on map led us to a completely different place so we arrived at the wrong accommodation at first. Would recommend Woodlands, we liked it a lot.

First, the good things: the staff here were all very friendly, welcoming, and served an excellent breakfast. I also appreciated that the hotel has a free car park for guests, and it was nice and quiet and conveniently located to bus stops or comfortable walks to Windermere and even Bowness. The hotel is generally nice but showing wear and tear / shabbiness in the halls, common rooms, etc (and our room door had been replaced with a strange industrial style one that reminded me of a public washroom). Our room was the real issue: it was sweltering hot, even after the temperature dropped one day and outside there were cool breezes and rains. It remained stale and stagnant, and we were only able to be in there for short periods of time thanks to a small portable fan that they put in for us. Even with the window open, there was no air flow whatsoever. There were other little issues with the room: the shower door didn’t fully close and would fold up towards you as you showered, making for a difficult showering experience. They also provided some toiletry amenities, but an odd mix: two shampoos but no conditioner, no hand soap, etc. Overall it was a good value and the room would have been fine save for temperature issue.

Just arrived home from a 2 night stay at the woodlands hotel . Receptionist holly is very friendly and welcoming also helpful with information on places to visit. All the breakfast staff are polite everyone makes you feel welcome. Rooms are clean warm and comfortable Ideal base for lakes and towns . Did not want to leave will definatley stay again.
