The hotel is in a great location in a very typically old british style but it needs a refurb. The room I had (superior) backed onto the bin area behind and at 5am there was a lot of activity with smashing glass etc.
Only had a 1 night stay. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Lovely view of Windsor castle but balcony was very tatty.
It was fairly clean and tidy in, however, the air con unit had some dust in it. One socket in the room didn't work and the bathroom light didn't turn off properly
We had been booked into the wrong room. Bed made up with duvet the wrong way round and two sachets of tea, one of which was torn and empty. Following day we returned to our room after a day out to find that the bed had not been made at all. Having spoken to reception that evening and the following day I was assured that the hotel would get back to me. They have not. Advertised as having a spa but there isnât one.
The property does not list that it does not have air conditioning. If you complain they give you a fan and tell you to open a window onto a busy street. We couldnât stay the 3 nights because of the heat and only asked for a refund for the last night and the property refused. This is a scam I would not stay there again.
Room was large & had great view of the castle right across the room. Unfortunately it is tired & the ceiling of the bathroom started leaking when it rained, worrying when it was coming through the light fitting.
Quite a convaluted route through the building to get to the room
Awesome view of the castle! Staff was very accommodating. However, the first 2 nights the air conditioning was not working and it was very warm in the room. Windows didnât stay open.
Returned to hotel where we married in 2014. Since reopening, post-COVID, breakfast is no longer available and decor (especially carpets) looks tired. Our room overlooking castle was highly desirable, but subject to some road noise. Hotel management could improve guestsâ enjoyment by providing information in room on history of the Harte and Garter, plus recommendations as to local attractions to visit.
Did not honour booking agreement, we had to pay extra ÂŁ50 for the room. they said there was a fault on the net and the price was wrong, also they said you Hotel.com knew this and had sent me a email informing me. If you did I never got one.we feel this was a con as they new if we did not pay we would have to start looking else where for a room.
Great hotel close to everything in the heart of Windsor, parking offsite but only a few minutes walk, the room was nice and big and had a great view of the castle. The bed was very comfy too
The hotel is a great location for visiting the castle and Windsor in general however the rooms are tired and needs a refurbishment. We had a luxury room but it could have been a standard, the bathroom was small and the bathroom door looked like it had been ripped off its frame at some point. The room apparently had air conditioning but this did not work and there was a tower fan in the room which with the weather was no good.
Check in took a while as they tried to find a room for me (I had booked the date months in advance). We found the room had no hot water in the shower. We reported this to reception, they said it would be fixed while we were out for dinner. It wasnât. We asked again, it still wasnât fixed. A previous review said they had the same problem. I therefore assume it was a pre-existing problem, hence the delay in allocating our room. I told the receptionist how unhappy we were as we left. She said someone from âCustomer Servicesâ (I find it hard to believe this department exists) would contact us in the next hour. Needless to say no such contact was forthcoming. I also contacted them via the website and have had no response. If you ring the hotel reception it just rings then the line goes dead. The hotel itself is well positioned but is in serious need of refurbishment. Our recommendation would be to avoid this place.
